The 16.3 probe should fail with a different card (or no card at all). The S0/8 probe is non-existing, if you have such a card, please write one! I would try to check some initial values after reset (there are a few that Siemens guarantees to have certain values). A non existent card will probably deliver 0xff for all registers on most mainboards. This probe doesn't need to be realy strong. My original design was: let the user specify the right configuration for his cards (i.e.: everything he jumpers) and let the code figure out the rest. If you don't have ISA memory specified in your kernel, you can't have a S0/8 card. This works well and was easy to implement. It solves the common case of just a single ISDN card. Later Gary added #ifdefs to keep the kernel slightly smaller, so probes for non supported cards will not even be tried. The additional "flags" value just adds redundant information in this case (only on card compiled in). I'm currently running it, and have done for a few months now. It's pretty stable, doesn't crash, though there's an annoying memory leak that I haven't been able (or have time) to track down. I have to reboot every couple of weeks. Other than that, it works fine. It's a very nice chipset, and has satisfyingly large FIFOs, so there's hardly any load on the system. I will try and package up what I've got, now that I'm being prodded about it. Hopefully I'll have time to do this next week. - Dave To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Thu Sep 2 18:34:20 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from devils.maquina.com (devils.maquina.com [62.229.71.43]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D5AE514D14 for ; Thu, 2 Sep 1999 18:34:09 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from gabriel@maquina.com) Received: from localhost (gabriel@localhost) by devils.maquina.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id CAA19461; Fri, 3 Sep 1999 02:33:25 +0100 (WEST) (envelope-from gabriel@maquina.com) X-Authentication-Warning: devils.maquina.com: gabriel owned process doing -bs Date: Fri, 3 Sep 1999 02:33:25 +0100 (WEST) From: Jose Gabriel Marcelino To: Dave Boyce Cc: freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Winbond W6692CF Support In-Reply-To: <19990903010658.B801@abyss.demon.co.uk> Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hi Dave, > I'm currently running it, and have done for a few months now. > It's pretty stable, doesn't crash, though there's an annoying > > I will try and package up what I've got, now that I'm > being prodded about it. This development leapfrogs the Linux ISDN subsystem (which doesn't support it) in a very popular ISDN card here in Portugal (the Asuscom one) Does it activate the TA port too? That would do amazing things with FreeBSD's popularity around the office :-) (I'm the only one running it here, everybody else runs SuSE Linux) Thanks again.
