The over-installation was followed by > ``make buildworld'' ``/usr/src''. However, the buildworld failed in > ``/usr/src/src.sbin/i4b/isdnd'' while compiling files ``support.c'' > and msghdl.c''. The overinstall replaces the kernel source and include files and the userland include files but NOT the userland source files. The idea is to build a new kernel and new i4b userland utilities out of the directory, where the new i4b now resides after doing an over- install. Note: after an overinstall, any cvsup, cvs update/checkout, make build- world etc. will produce errors. As such, any such actions should be done ONLY after an overuninstall of i4b ! Therefore the old userland utilities will no longer build. More, in case one forces them to build, i suspect that severe problems will occur. So your patch is not necessary, even more, it is very dangerous to apply and use! hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 559747-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 559747-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm [at] hcs.de 22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Sun Sep 12 12: 4:18 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from nigtevecht.xs4all.nl (nigtevecht.xs4all.nl [194.109.83.243]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E94FF14DD9 for ; Sun, 12 Sep 1999 12:04:00 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from isdn@nigtevecht.xs4all.nl) Received: from groover.nigtevecht.nl (groover.nigtevecht.nl [173.16.1.1]) by nigtevecht.xs4all.nl (8.9.2/8.8.5) with SMTP id VAA00509 for ; Sun, 12 Sep 1999 21:03:35 +0200 (CEST) Message-Id: <199909121903.VAA00509@nigtevecht.xs4all.nl> From: isdn@nigtevecht.xs4all.nl To: freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 21:02:46 +0200 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Subject: Fritz! and 3.2 X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Win32 (v3.11) Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hello, I just installed FreeBSD 3.2 on my laptop and wanted to use my ISDN modem again. I recently helped someone with a problem that was a lot like this. Turned out that he'd assigned an address to the ISP which was not (always) correct. if_spppsubr.c went into a loop NAKing the ISPs IP address. The ISP didn't time out and kept sending the same address over and over. One can argue whether the bug is in if_spppsubr.c or on the ISPs side. Seems like the ISP should give up if he keeps getting NAKs. Of course, if_spppsubr.c could also keep a counter for this case. The fix was to use 0.0.0.1 for the ISP. Then if_spppsubr.c accepts any address the ISP sends. IMHO this is the correct way to handle this. --- Gary Jennejohn Home - garyj@muc.de Work - garyj@fkr.dec.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Thu Sep 16 22:38:44 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from linteuto.teuto.de (temp-mail.teuto.de [194.77.23.26]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 94F92153BB for ; Thu, 16 Sep 1999 22:38:39 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from martin@rumolt.teuto.de) Received: from rumolt.teuto.de (rumolt.teuto.de [212.8.203.81]) by linteuto.teuto.de (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id HAA02584; Fri, 17 Sep 1999 07:38:35 +0200 Received: from martins (hwart.teuto.de [212.8.203.83]) by rumolt.teuto.de (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id HAA00336; Fri, 17 Sep 1999 07:38:13 +0200 (MEST) From: "Martin Husemann" To: "Gary Jennejohn" , "Paul Herman" Cc: Subject: RE: if_spppsubr.c Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 07:38:13 +0200 Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook IMO, Build 9.0.2416 (9.0.2910.0) In-Reply-To: <199909162126.XAA03635@peedub.muc.de> Importance: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org > I suggest turning on debugging on the interface and looking at the > output. IMHO this is the correct way to handle this. I've tried that (the two I've tried were 10.0.0.1 and 0.0.0.1), but it doesn't seem be the problem, because it doesn't even make it that far. i4b sends a "Config-Request: PAP" and the ISP sends back a "Config-Ack: PAP", and then a few seconds later i4b sends the same PAP Request again. When the "PAP loop" by chance doesn't happen, then everything works fine. I believe my config is good, because I have a lot of experience with i4b, and this PAP loop only happens 40% of the time, and only with newer versions of i4b. What is the cleverest choice of "idletime-outgoing" and "unitlength" to achieve the least costs (e.g. while surfing on the Internet the call will be hanged up when there is inactivity for about 10-15 seconds; when a new document is ordered a new outgoing call happens)? At the time I'm using idletime-outgoing = 10 ratetype = 0 unitlength = 60 the result is that all my calls last 0:55, 1:55, 2:55, ... min. What I'm looking for is a ratesystem that allows calls whose length are of arbitrary fractions of a minute (e.g. 17 seconds, 32 seconds, 43 seconds, ...). How do I achieve this?
