I am actively looking for 1 or 2 engineers, either for full-time or contract employment on-site, with strong experience working with the BSD kernel and networking. A major portion of our product is a proprietary protocol designed to improve the problem of traffic congestion over peak periods on both public and private networks. We are currently porting our protocol from Windows NT to FreeBSD. Experience at the kernel level is required and any working knowledge of protocols would be helpful as well. An introduction:. I am 20 years of age and male. I have a set of perfectly tangible yet brilliant ideas for a next generation internet presence provider (Namely, web hosting.) that, when released, would be far more technologically advanced than the current industry leaders such as hiway.com and best.com. I have developed an exact project detail for this 'next generation' hosting engine. The first server is up and running already (Running FreeBSD 3.3 -stable of course! In San Francisco, California.) with registered name servers and the web site is nearly completed. Basically, all aspects of this operation are either completed or near completions, including incorporation and such, except for the software to power this service. (I am not a typical clueless suit, so pheer not.) What I am looking for: A technical person to carry out the tasks required by this project that I cannot. Code writting and system/network administration. This person should be: First of all, nationality, location in the world, ethnicity, gender, etcetera, do /not/ matter. A person of like age, 18-25. Qualities I seek include one who is extremely dynamic, clever, hard working, aggressive, inventive, dedicated, professional, responsible. I want an animal, someone who is willing to go hardcore on this. A 'go-getter'. Your willingness and capability to learn is more important than your current knowledge and experience but this task is /not/ just a few simple scripts or something of the sort. Basically the same qualities I feel I possess. I'm putting nearly 16 hours a day 7 days a week trying to get this going. Technical faculties should include mid or better level unix/network administrater, mid to high mid level or better programmer with skills in c / php / perl / cgi. (If you don't know php but are willing and capable to learn, that is fine.) Compensation / benefits: 50% of net revenue for the length of your active involvement. (YOU decide when you leave so being 'pushed out' is not a possibility.) Eventually this would lead to a permanent CTO position focusing only on direction and structure theory analysis and approval. Until it is absolutely necessary to be in-house (After client base exceeds 10,000 or so.), this is a remote position. I'm a really nice guy, a lot of fun, and I'm fair. I'm not a cheap skate nor a power hungry suit. I will basically give you control over the technical aspects of things and keep you happy with more network capacity than is required. I'm a believer of success through quality, not success through 'SELL SELL SELL!'. I have a residence permit for Sweden so when you really want to get together and club/party, I'm game! Conclusion: My ideas have been gone over by friends (Very few, NDA etcetera.) with clue++ and failure is not an option I firmly believe. I would be happy to discuss more of my direction, goals, etcetera, with interested parties. Age discrimination is a big issue in the US. Glad to see some of us are in tune with these things. I think the US has widespread age discrimination it's just understated and difficult to prove. I wrote the letter at 6:00 and was quite tired. I didn't clarify to the level I should have, so I will now. The only reason I seek someone in that age group, someone of like age, is because I was raised to very strict standards. I find it difficult and awkward to tell people a good deal older than me 'what to do', which is necessary sometimes if we are to get anything done. My comment was merely out of respect, and nothing more. I've received some inquiry from people older than 25 already and I will give them the exact same interest as someone within the bracket I gave. It is just my /preference/, not a requirement, is what I meant. The same as with jobs which prefer a CS degree but do not require it. So once again I apologise for not clarifying. Sincerely, Kelly Kline ps: The 'get together' comment was also odd, after looking over my letter after some rest. I merely meant that I want this to be a very fun relationship, not always the mundane business. I am not seeking a male lover. ----- Original Message ----- From: Noel Miller To: Steve Friedrich ; ; K Sent: Thursday, September 30, 1999 10:37 AM Subject: Re: Partnership opportunity in a next generation internet presence provider start-up. > Steve, > > You have a point.
