Try to get a new floppy (buy it or smth). If doesn't help, check out your floppy drive - is it successful reading and writing floppies in DOS? I've installed GLIDE for my Voodoo II I'm running and 3dfx doesn't seem to work under any of the quakes for me. Now I know many people have gotten quake to play with 3Dfx, but there are no sites I know of that discuss how to get it to run under FreeBSD. The Darius Quake Page is Pretty good, but it old. I have not tried the qkhacklib because It seems like too old of a hack. I've got quake to run in a terminal but I get no keyboard or mouse movement "just 3Dfx but it's not playable". If anyone knows how to get quake to run under 3Dfx.... plz let e know. -thanks; Cosmic-665 ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-newbies Mon Jul 26 14: 8: 2 1999 Delivered-To: freebsd-newbies@freebsd.org Received: from ptldpop1.ptld.uswest.net (ptldpop1.ptld.uswest.net [198.36.160.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 478A514CFB for ; Mon, 26 Jul 1999 14:07:54 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from summoner@uswest.net) Received: (qmail 5671 invoked by alias); 26 Jul 1999 21:06:58 -0000 Delivered-To: fixup-freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG@fixme Received: (qmail 5646 invoked by uid 0); 26 Jul 1999 21:06:57 -0000 Received: from edsl209.ptld.uswest.net (HELO uswest.net) (209.180.175.209) by ptldpop1.ptld.uswest.net with SMTP; 26 Jul 1999 21:06:57 -0000 Message-ID: <379CCDF1.35D3C03@uswest.net> Date: Mon, 26 Jul 1999 14:06:57 -0700 From: Summoner X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.6 [en] (Win98; U) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: David Wolfskill Cc: freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: First time for my own PC hardware References: <199907261419.HAA77855@pau-amma.whistle.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org David Wolfskill wrote: > > Seems odd that a cable would be with the CD drive, but not a disk drive. Check out the MRTG home page. http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html It works by querying devices using SNMP then turning that information into graphs using the GD library. If you need more than that then download it and read the source - it's writtern in perl and C. From memory it's fairly easy to setup - and I was doing in on a Windows NT box. Just read the doc. Somewhere I found those binaries for linux. I saw a linux "driver" on my system (3.1). What do I have to do, to run it ? Is there any aditional software I would need ? I have installed nothing special. And dont know anything about linux, if I should need this knowledge. Thanks ! Then you could use dd to copy the raw file. On the other hand, if you can find that out, you would probably just untar the file :) Just a thought, if you tar xpv /dev/rfd0, what happens? When I heard about the accident last week, I wondered about this. The f switch tells tar to use a file rather than a device, so this might work. Speaking of what happened last week, how did you get the floppy out of the drive in the end?
