Hardware: P200, 32Mb memory, 2GB IDE disk. Do I need more memory?? I have rebuilt the kernel using options "SHMMAX=(SHMMAXPGS*PAGE_SIZE+1)" options SHMMAXPGS=8192 I have created user sybase and group sybase, /opt and other directories where sybase bits will reside, owned by sybase. I have unpacked the common, ase and doc rpms, and executed the install/sybinstall.sh script as root. I logged as sybase, and executed the srvbuild script, and answered the questions in the window it pops up. Everything is fine up to where it tries to start the server. The Sybase documentation acutally recommends certain minimum values. However, the problem is a signal 11 error, not an out of memory error. Sybase was very clear in its error messages to me that I didn't have enough segments available. Sybase 11.9.2 is only available for Linux right now, so make sure you use FreeBSD 4.1.1 with the newest Linux lib package. BTW, Sybase 11.9.2 is only free for development, not deployment.
