I've configured an connection to my ISP via i4b and sppp with dial-on-demand enabled. The problem is that if the connection is up and someone is using the telephone (the other B-channel) i4b is unable to continue the connection (no http, no smtp, no icmp) furthermore it seems that isdnd can't close the connection (isdnmonitor stops during shutdown the connection) although the interface is closed (ispppcontrol says phase=establish). After rebooting the system everything is fine. The worst problem is that i can't reproduce the problem, sometimes it works sometimes not. Has anyone experienced such a problem or is it just misconfiguration? Thanks in advance Martin PS: I'm using an AVM-Fritz card under FreeBSD-4.0-RELEASE (400017) -- > ich versuche mich ein wenig in C unter Suse-Linux und wuerde gerne > wissen wie man den Bildschirm loeschen kann . From my /etc/isdn/isdnd.rc: monitor-allowed = on on/off monitor-port = 451 monitor = localhost monitor-access = fullcmd, channelstate, logevents, callin, callout Everything else works fine, but isdnd just doesn't listen to port 451, I guess. I tried a few other ports, too, but it's always the same. The machine is running ipfw, but it isn't configured yet and defaults to open, so that shouldn't be the problem here. Am I missing something? For that reason the parameter for the protocol keyword MUST be the parameter dss1 ! " First I would know if this is the actual state of devel ? Then I have to say that I am running a D64S with cisco-hdlck (yes cisco hdlc WITH keepalives) on my linux router. Some small kernel patches and everything was fine ;-) I started University of Cooperative Education (called "BA" in Germany and therefor have limited time, but I would perhaps like to spent that on implementing (parts of) c-hdlck in FreeBSD Kernel [if I do get some help if needed - had no detailed look at the sources yet. ]. I also have a separate machine waiting to get hoovered with some Teles 16.3 cards that seem to work (and access to the cisco at the other end for debugging and configuration). I would get some FreeBSD 4.2 or 5.0 CD next week (it's a bit slow on a D64S :-( ) [which one is better for devel ?] and get the machine installed. { PS: if you prefer German language that's quite ok for _personal_ contact.} -- Bjoern A. I'd recommend getting a 4.2 up and running and overinstall 0.96 or running the overinstall script from www.freebsd-support.de/i4b/ I don't think its very difficult to get leased line support up and running, almost all hooks should be there and you don't have to develop code - you "only" need to disable the D-channel ;-) I'm not shure if isppp supports Cisco HDLC with keepalives, there seem to be something in it but i know of noone who ever tried. hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 55 97 47-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 55 97 47-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm [at] hcs.de D-22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Fri Nov 24 12:53:38 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE (nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE [129.217.131.21]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2EF6D37B4C5 for ; Fri, 24 Nov 2000 12:53:36 -0800 (PST) Received: from dunkelkammer.void (actually dial-142193.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE) by nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE via smtp-local with SMTP; Fri, 24 Nov 2000 21:53:34 +0100 Received: by dunkelkammer.void (Postfix, from userid 910) id AFF2522B0C; Fri, 24 Nov 2000 19:43:12 +0100 (CET) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by dunkelkammer.void (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6CE2122A68 for ; Fri, 24 Nov 2000 19:43:12 +0100 (CET) Date: Fri, 24 Nov 2000 19:43:12 +0100 (CET) From: Stefan Walter To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Subject: Re: No connection with isdnmonitor In-Reply-To: <20001124124257.0C10A1837@hcswork.hcs.de> Message-ID: X-No-Archive: Yes MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org On Fri, 24 Nov 2000, Hellmuth Michaelis wrote: > >From the keyboard of Stefan Walter: > > > I've been trying to get isdnmonitor working for quite a while now, but > > something seems to be wrong. Does netstat show the configured port being listened on at all? Maybe it's just not listening on 127.0.0.1:451, but instead your "real" IP (this depends on how "localhost" is resolved on your system, assuming you put that into your config file; you might try configuring with dotted-quad IP numbers instead of names) Martin To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Sat Nov 25 7:50:43 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE (nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE [129.217.131.21]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D58FA37B4CF for ; Sat, 25 Nov 2000 07:50:40 -0800 (PST) Received: from dunkelkammer.void (actually dial-142237.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE) by nx5.HRZ.Uni-Dortmund.DE via smtp-local with SMTP; Sat, 25 Nov 2000 16:50:32 +0100 Received: by dunkelkammer.void (Postfix, from userid 910) id A4D3B22A44; Sat, 25 Nov 2000 15:48:47 +0100 (CET) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by dunkelkammer.void (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7369222A41 for ; Sat, 25 Nov 2000 15:48:47 +0100 (CET) Date: Sat, 25 Nov 2000 15:48:47 +0100 (CET) From: Stefan Walter To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Subject: Re: No connection with isdnmonitor In-Reply-To: <200011242107.eAOL7ed05571@night-porter.duskware.de> Message-ID: X-No-Archive: Yes MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org On Fri, 24 Nov 2000, Martin Husemann wrote: > > > Try netstat -a to determine if your guess is correct. > > It was indeed correct. Well, yes: it doesn't work, either. ;) I did try it, but the socket is not created by isdnd. Additionally - although I'm not quite a newbie to UNIX systems any more -, I know next to nothing about sockets; just enough to make sure it doesn't work, either. > Does netstat show the configured port being listened on at all? I tried 127.0.0.1 as well as the IP of my NIC, plus the local domain socket. That's why I was asking, everything seems well-configured... I'm trying to set up an outgoing sppp connection to my ISP. I'm completely new to ISDN. My ISDN card is Winbond. I seem to have succeeded in configuring both isdnd and ifconfig correctly. The problem lies with ispppcontrol: it fails to set authentication options for isp0. As a result, I do get an outgoing connection (or so isdnd tells me) but it gets closed immediately by the remote end. Here's the error that 'ispppcontrol isp0' gives me: ispppcontrol: SIOCGIFGENERIC(SPPPIOGDEFS): Invalid argument If I try to put the authentication options elsewhere, in the ppp-send-auth etc. options of isdn.rc, here's what I get when trying to run isdn: ERR ERROR fetching active PPP authentication info for isp0 at line 23!
