Our work combines the advantages of workstation environments - scalability, flexibility, and affordability - with the convenience and simplicity of centralized computing. Our flagship product, currently under development, is called Linux NOW (Network of Workstations). Linux NOW makes a network of workstations function as a single integrated system. By making a workstation environment look and act like a single system, Linux NOW makes networks of workstations simpler to manage, more secure, and easier to use. We are currently seeking developers with the following expertise: DISTRIBUTED FILE SYSTEMS Extensive experience with the design and implementation of distributed operating systems and file systems, ideally addressing advanced features including high performance, high availability, security, scalability, and mobility. LINUX KERNEL HACKERS Extensive experience with Linux kernel programming and an in-depth knowledge of the major subsystems, and their interactions, especially the file system, process scheduling, and networking subsystems. CLUSTERING Extensive experience with building and programming clusters of compters for distributed processing, load balancing, and high availability services. In depth knowledge of Open Source clustering efforts such as Beowulf. SECURITY Extensive experience with the design and implementation of security issues in large distributed systems. Experience with Open Source security architectures such as OpenSSL and Kerberos. MOBILE COMPUTING Experience with mobile computing, and the issues surrounding it, including support for disconnected and weakly-connected operation. Progeny is an Open Source company started by Debian Project founder Ian Murdock and former Debian Project leader Bruce Perens. We offer competitive salaries and a generous stock option package. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor at an early stage start-up, and to work with bright and interesting people in a fun environment on exciting and innovative projects.
