I'm looking at getting a B50 for a couple of months and would like to get FreeBSD running on the box. There are differenet kninds of RS/6Ks, and the processor arch. differs between these. There are: * Power * Power 2 * PowerPC (PPC604) * Power 3 * Power 3-II At least one processor used in RS6K is SMT (even if AIX doesn't enable the SMT). Like wise, there are both PReP and CHRP machines, possibly also others. There is a great variety of things hiding under the R6000 name. Feasibility depends both on how many people are interested and how much documentation can be had. > > I'm looking at getting a B50 for a couple of months and would like to get > FreeBSD running on the box. > > Cheers > Gavin > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-platforms" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-platforms Sat Mar 4 16:15:38 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-platforms@freebsd.org Received: from iserver.itworks.com.au (iserver.itworks.com.au [203.32.61.10]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 5247537B8AB for ; Sat, 4 Mar 2000 16:15:34 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from gavin@itworks.com.au) Received: (qmail 39806 invoked from network); 5 Mar 2000 00:15:31 -0000 Received: from maybe.itworks.com.au (203.36.209.235) by iserver.itworks.com.au with SMTP; 5 Mar 2000 00:15:31 -0000 Received: (qmail 3984 invoked from network); 5 Mar 2000 00:15:31 -0000 Received: from maybe.itworks.com.au (HELO maybe) (203.36.209.235) by maybe.itworks.com.au with SMTP; 5 Mar 2000 00:15:31 -0000 Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 11:15:31 +1100 (EST) From: Gavin Cameron To: Narvi Cc: freebsd-platforms@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: RS/6000 port In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-platforms@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I didn't say it would be easy ;-) I'd like to concentrate on the newer hardware. The B50 has a 604e in it. But it would be really funky to have FreeBSD running on an SP.
