The sparc port is in such infancy that a general agreement on sun4m vs sun4u was never reached as best as I can rememeber. NetBSD has good pre Ultra support but even they don't seem to have much activity on the Ultra stuff. I was going to try installing NetBSD on a Ultra 200/E but there is no support for the fast ethernet chip. Interestingly NetBSD sparc now supports netbooting the Javastation 1 hardware. I don't own one but they can be found on Ebay for $50. Makes a really cheap development platform. They are sun4m arch. It's a 110Mhz MicroSparc II I think. -bill wlloyd@slap.net To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-sparc" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-sparc Fri May 19 10:19:26 2000 Delivered-To: freebsd-sparc@freebsd.org Received: from relay.nuxi.com (nuxi.cs.ucdavis.edu [169.237.7.38]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EFB0837BF2D for ; Fri, 19 May 2000 10:19:22 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from obrien@NUXI.com) Received: from dragon.nuxi.com (root@c04-183.006.popsite.net [216.126.137.183]) by relay.nuxi.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id KAA70284; Fri, 19 May 2000 10:19:19 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from obrien@dragon.nuxi.com) Received: (from obrien@localhost) by dragon.nuxi.com (8.9.3/8.9.1) id KAA27736; Fri, 19 May 2000 10:19:19 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from obrien) Date: Fri, 19 May 2000 10:19:18 -0700 From: "David O'Brien" To: William Lloyd Cc: freebsd-sparc@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: BSD/OS source code (4.1 and SMP experimental) now available.
