AUTO_EOI1 & 2 definitely *don't work* (vinum -> trap 12 at boot *everytime*) and thanks to the person who wrote 'don't compile vinum in the kernel'. god bless him/her. i still wonder about the star at boot, but everything else is fine. when i'm a bit more advanced, i think i will install -CURRENT to become a SMP beta tester. best regards, --- Olivier Cortes free software admin To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-smp" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-smp Mon Mar 26 17:16: 5 2001 Delivered-To: freebsd-smp@freebsd.org Received: from linuxpower.p00t.net (mke-24-167-255-186.wi.rr.com [24.167.255.186]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3FF8737B719 for ; Mon, 26 Mar 2001 17:16:03 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from tduffey@wi.rr.com) Received: from localhost (trout@localhost) by linuxpower.p00t.net (8.11.3/8.11.3) with ESMTP id f2R1Fpf01157 for ; Mon, 26 Mar 2001 19:15:52 -0600 Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2001 19:15:51 -0600 (CST) From: Tom Duffey To: freebsd-smp@freebsd.org Subject: Followup of Netfinity 3500 M20 SMP problem Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-smp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Still no luck making the SMPized kernel boot on the Netfinity M20. I'm not sure when, after 4.2-RELEASE, the patch was applied, but I'd recommend just "going all the way" ... If you do go this route, I've noticed some intermediant problems between 4.2-RELEASE and current sources, so if that machine is semi-production, make sure you do: make buildworld make buildkernel make installkernel reboot make buildworld just so that your world is ready ... the 'problems' were fixed once I got the world up to date with the kernel ... > > Tom Duffey > > On Mon, 26 Mar 2001, The Hermit Hacker wrote: > > > sorry, hadn't been following this ... what version of kernel are you > > running?
