Dan gives a very very good talk. He kept it focused on track. People actually picked up all the freebie freebsd cd's provided. Very nicely done Dan. -- Diane Bruce, http://www.db.net/~db db@db.net --- I got bored with the last witty aphorism. The talk is at http://www.FreeBSDDiary.org/talks/ (it's the oclug one). Feel free to use it. Just credit me and the people I credit within the talk. The main point of the presentation was: - There are more similarities between BSD and Linux than there are differences - You will like the similarities - You will like the differences In short, they were told that BSD has everything you already use. And here's what other Linux users liked about BSD and what they missed about Linux. I had fun creating the slides and a good time during the talk. And I'm willing to travel to give the talk elsewhere... Given it's January in Ottawa, and the 7s are on in early Feb in Wellington, that would be a prime location.... Thanks to Wind River for supplying the CDs. I'll be asking at next month's meeting how many people took CDs, how many tried installing, how many installed, how many are still installed, how many are still running it. -- Dan Langille The FreeBSD Diary - http://freebsddiary.org/ - practical examples To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-advocacy" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-advocacy Fri Jan 4 8:44:56 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Received: from lists.unixathome.org (lists.unixathome.org [210.48.103.158]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5F9EA37B405 for ; Fri, 4 Jan 2002 08:44:54 -0800 (PST) Received: from wocker (lists.unixathome.org [210.48.103.158]) by lists.unixathome.org (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id g04GijC03548 for ; Sat, 5 Jan 2002 05:44:46 +1300 (NZDT) (envelope-from dan@langille.org) From: "Dan Langille" Organization: novice in training To: advocacy@freebsd.org Date: Fri, 4 Jan 2002 11:44:30 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Subject: Re: Talking to a Linux User Group Reply-To: dan@langille.org Message-ID: <3C35959E.845.31EC3771@localhost> X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Windows (v4.01) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Content-description: Mail message body Sender: owner-freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG On 4 Jan 2002 at 1:06, I wrote: > It's over. (which is why I posted from this address, rather than trish@bsdunix.net *laugh*) Good job Dan! It seems very similar to an impromptu presentation I did at LXNY in New York several years ago, I got roped into it when they found out I was there *laugh*. I wish I could have been more organized, but I kept the religion to a minimum and the technical merits to a maximum, and discussed the same type of thing, the right tool, and my favorite thing is that I have a toolbox, and in that toolbox I have many tools, I would never use a ball-peen hammer when I need to pull a nail, I'd use a claw hammer :) Again, good work!! -Trish -- Momma Bear Trish trish@listmistress.org Ecartis Core Team http://www.ecartis.org ListMistress BDSM List Project http://www.listmistress.org ListMistress BDSM News Site http://slash.listmistress.org Key fingerprint = F652 6C66 C90D 7B64 D85A E987 5AB5 6E5B 4D58 3DA4 "Love well, whip well" - Benjamin Franklin "$solution = undef() until $solution != /coersion/;" -Antigen To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-advocacy" in the body of the message
