Things seems to have been smoothly started as there is no error in log file whatsoever and also FLEXLM_DIGNOSTICS level 3 does not give any error. I am using default time out to be 5 minutes. License gets checked in after 5 mins. giving a hint that heartbeats are not being generated to keep the license up. I am setting LM_A_USER_PERIODIC_COUNT and LM_A_PERIODIC_CALL attributes but nothing seems to have been working. I am attaching a small program on which I am testing this thing. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. The moment vmware tries to go full screen, it dumps core and the X screen is left almost black. When you run the dga test command afterwards and quits it, then the screen is back to normal again. I am using XFree 4.2.0, dga is enabled and works fine with e.g. mplayer -vo dga The Xserver recognizes the omnibooks chipset fne: (II) ATI: Candidate "Device" section "ATI Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x". I have the following modules enabled: ddc GLcore dbe dri extmod glx pex5 record bitmap freetype speedo type1 vbe int10 When vmware starts, it first goes to fulle screen mode to test if that would work, and it seems to work at that point (no complaint about non-working dga or so). The moment vmware tries to go full screen, >it dumps core and the X screen is left almost black. Sometimes I run into this problem, and sometimes I do not. In my case, I find that the trick is to have the virtual machine running at a lower resolution than the real screen. So, for instance, my XF86Config has the screen at a resolution of 1152x864. I startup vmware with a guest OS of Win2K. While that is still running inside a window (ie, it is *not* full-screen), I change the resolution of that guest OS to 1024x768. I can then "option-esc" out of the window, and click on the full-screen button. Win2K will take over the screen, and vmware2 will not core-dump. Of course, once Win2K is set to 1024x768, you just leave it there and you can go into full-screen mode the next time you start up vmware. You can not have vmware automatically start up in full-screen mode, because it will also dump when the virtual machine is in the basic "DOS resolution", as it is while the virtual OS is booting up or shutting down. -- Garance Alistair Drosehn = gad@gilead.netel.rpi.edu Senior Systems Programmer or gad@freebsd.org Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute or drosih@rpi.edu To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-emulation" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-emulation Thu May 9 12:50:22 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Received: from gvr.gvr.org (gvr.gvr.org [212.61.40.17]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6DFF037B40D for ; Thu, 9 May 2002 12:50:10 -0700 (PDT) Received: by gvr.gvr.org (Postfix, from userid 657) id 4702757F6; Thu, 9 May 2002 21:50:08 +0200 (CEST) Date: Thu, 9 May 2002 21:50:08 +0200 From: Guido van Rooij To: Garance A Drosihn Cc: freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: vmware core dumps when going full screen Message-ID: <20020509195008.GB30327@gvr.gvr.org> References: <20020509112410.GA29090@gvr.gvr.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: Sender: owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org > So, for instance, my XF86Config has the screen at a > resolution of 1152x864. But perhaps that is the issue... I just tried to run it on the same resolution as the Xserver and that solved it.
