Here is a detailed description of what we are looking for. POSTING UNTIL: Until Filled NUMBER OF OPEN POSITIONS: 1 HOURS PER WEEK: 40.0 LOCATION : LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA DESCRIPTION: Administer network management and operations support systems that support a nationwide wireless telecommunications network. Administer systems and logical services primarily based on Freebsd server operating systems , but in a heterogeneous environment also including IRIX and SOLARIS-based systems(very few). Provide hardware and software support for operations systems related to network management and provisioning. Operate and maintain the computing environment, including physical equipment space, system upgrades, file management, user access, performance monitoring, evaluation, tuning, software distribution, and event monitoring. Serve as a subject matter expert for organizational policy and procedures, standards, and training. Maintain system security through compliance with security guidelines, audits, access validation, and user education. Troubleshoot network hardware and software problems. Support organizational projects by performing system analysis, evaluating hardware and software, designing and implementing new systems, and coordinating project tasks. Work on-call, and be able to provide first-tier support for the operations environment on-demand when scheduled for on-call duty. Work with other company organizations to facilitate the ongoing development, testing and deployment of future systems and upgrades to existing systems. Requirements Three to five years experience in the computing industry, specifically pertaining to systems and servers based on the FreeBSD operating systems. Knowledge of logical systems services, including mail delivery, domain name service, authentication, etc. Knowledge of leading computing hardware based on Compaq, Dell, or similar manufacturer's servers, storage, peripherals. Ability to function effectively in a team-based work environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical issues verbally and in writing. Knowledge and proven experience with Transmission Communication Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and wide area networking. Bachelor's degree or the equivalent desired, but not a must. Valid/clean driver's license for state of employment and insurance. Ability to lift and move 50 lbs. Demonstrated experience in an operations environment preferred. Experience with Oracle7, 8, 8i. or Mysql preferred.
