Problem: Can't save documents. Possible solutions: Lost for words. Error Message: "Error while saving Untitled1: Wrong parameter. The operation was started under an invalid parameter." Misc information: FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE CVS has been run and all ports up to date on Dec 08, 2002 before the installation of Openoffice. make install for openoffice. install-user (logged in as a user, not root). All went very well. JDK 131 environment present. Whether it is writer, calc, what have you... Saving documents seems to be a challenge. The first problem occurs when the save button is pressed: -/usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0/work does not exist. Tried to save a file elsewhere: -Write error And subsequently the program crashes. No problem. Created the directory. No more error when I press the save button. Regardless of save location: -Error saving the document Untitled1: Wrong parameter. The operation was started under an invalid parameter. Click OK. Program crashes and dumps a core file, several .sav files and several .tmp files in ~/. I have found several sites which describe exactly the same problem in Suse & Mandrake. No reports found for FreeBSD yet. Have not found any possible solutions as of yet. Any input greatly appreciated. Keep up the great list guys. -elliotj To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-openoffice" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-openoffice Tue Dec 10 0:58:29 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A107F37B401 for ; Tue, 10 Dec 2002 00:58:28 -0800 (PST) Received: from mgate3.rrzn.uni-hannover.de (mgate3.rrzn.uni-hannover.de [130.75.2.31]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 43D9343E4A for ; Tue, 10 Dec 2002 00:58:27 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from gerrit@pmp.uni-hannover.de) Received: from www.pmp.uni-hannover.de (www.pmp.uni-hannover.de [130.75.117.2]) by mgate3.rrzn.uni-hannover.de (8.12.6/8.12.6) with ESMTP id gBA8wNau005026 for ; Tue, 10 Dec 2002 09:58:24 +0100 (MET) Received: by www.pmp.uni-hannover.de (Postfix, from userid 846) id 580284C7; Tue, 10 Dec 2002 09:58:19 +0100 (CET) Date: Tue, 10 Dec 2002 09:58:19 +0100 From: Gerrit =?iso-8859-1?Q?K=FChn?= To: openoffice@freebsd.org Subject: compilation on DP2 fails Message-ID: <20021210085819.GA35510@pmp.uni-hannover.de> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i X-Operating-System: FreeBSD X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.24 (www . roaringpenguin . com / mimedefang) Sender: owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hi all, is this expected to happen? ============= Building project udkapi ============= /usr/ports/german/openoffice/work/oo_1.0.1_src/udkapi/com/sun/star/lang idlc @/var/tmp/mkZJdvcA idlc: compile 'ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.idl' ... Whatever OpenOffice release or portage is used. Yet the= re=20 is no problem with other word processors or editors. I made an issue for it at OpenOffice : issue 9939. It is now solved. The = texte=20 of the solution is pasted below. Sincerely Eric Brasseur Solution is environment variable LANG should be set to fr_FR.ISO8859-15 b= efore=20 starting OOo. This can be written inside the "swriter" start script and=20 inside the other scripts for starting OOo components ("scalc", "sdraw"...= ).=20 (Or it can be typed inside an X terminal window before starting an OOo=20 component fromout that terminal. And first issue bash or sh command in or= der=20 for the export command to be recognized.) export LANG=3Dfr_FR.ISO8859-15 Another solution is following can be done to FreeBSD (4.7) configuration=20 files, to enable french localisation globally: At the end of /etc/rc.conf add following lines: font8x8=3D"iso15-8x8" font8x14=3D"iso15-8x14" font8x16=3D"iso15-8x16" At the beginning of /etc/login.conf change the "default:" lines so they=20 include the last two statements charset=3D and lang=3D as follows: default:\ :passwd_format=3Dmd5:\ :copyright=3D/etc/COPYRIGHT:\ :welcome=3D/etc/motd:\ :setenv=3DMAIL=3D/var/mail/$,BLOCKSIZE=3DK,FTP_PASSIVE_MODE=3DYES= :\ :path=3D/sbin /bin /usr/sbin /usr/bin /usr/games ... \ :charset=3DISO-ISO8859-15:\ :lang=3Dfr_FR.ISO8859-15: Post Scriptum : mute keys is same as dead keys. And ISO8859-1 yields the = same=20 results as ISO8859-15 so far tried out. Yup, it crashes with an "An unrecoverable error has occured" error under 4.7-STABLE from a few weeks ago. The funny thing is, when I try to debug the core file using gdb, gdb coredumps. I assume that that has happened since OpenOffice was compiled (from the ports collection) using GCC 3.x, rather than system's native GCC 2.95.3.
