I used mysql in a master/slave replication configuration. Do you mean that? I had to use Linux so the OS tuning is not what you are looking for (and the circumstances were an invention of .. okay no swear words here .. but would you run NFS server, mysql and postgresql with high load on the same machine? And then Linux with it's problems under high load?) Especially mysql was hell. Occasionally corrupted indexes. When I rebuilt them the master/server pair became out of sync. I had to keep the mysql running so I used a rsync loop to fix it. The last rsync had to be done while the master wasn't writing to disk (I forgot the command only to use the memory for updates, sorry). Then I restarted the replication and let the master dump the updates cached in memory. Maybe it's better with version 4? I hope you get better results Peter From owner-freebsd-database@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Oct 8 14:55:39 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-database@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D3D3F16A4B3; Wed, 8 Oct 2003 14:55:39 -0700 (PDT) Received: from museful.corp.yahoo.com (museful.corp.yahoo.com [216.145.52.107]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ED9EA43FAF; Wed, 8 Oct 2003 14:55:38 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jzawodn@yahoo-inc.com) Received: (from jzawodn@localhost) by museful.corp.yahoo.com (8.11.6/8.11.1) id h98Ltcm64954; Wed, 8 Oct 2003 14:55:38 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jzawodn) Date: Wed, 8 Oct 2003 14:55:38 -0700 From: Jeremy Zawodny To: Sebastien Gioria Message-ID: <20031008145538.A64913@yahoo-inc.com> References: <20031008095226.A18491@thorm.gioria.dyndns.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5.1i In-Reply-To: <20031008095226.A18491@thorm.gioria.dyndns.org>; from gioria@freebsd.org on Wed, Oct 08, 2003 at 09:52:27AM +0200 cc: freebsd-database@freebsd.org cc: freebsd-cluster@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Clustering mysql X-BeenThere: freebsd-database@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Database use and development under FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 08 Oct 2003 21:55:40 -0000 On Wed, Oct 08, 2003 at 09:52:27AM +0200, Sebastien Gioria wrote: > Hi guys, > > Anybody does have any experience in clustering mysql ? I don't want to change anything on the web server when my database failed. I want the connections to be redirect to the slave/backup database server .
