Let say There're 3-4 SLAVE-servers replicate data from MASTER-server. Web application reading from any SLAVE-servers but only write data to MASTER-server. I am not sure if sybase will let you allocate less shared memory than the def= ault, though. i would check the shared memory and semaphore requirements of ASE and try to modify the equivalent sysctls for your system. i am not positive, but i th= ink any changes made to these sysctls will need to be put into /boot/loader.conf to be read at boot time. -Anthony. I must say I was very successful except one change is very necessary on that HOWTO. Remove the option for SHMMAX and you will not get the "Out of memory" problem. Now just one thing remaining, does anyone have a script I can throw into /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ as oracle.sh so that Oracle can be controlled like the other servers? I have googled but no such script for FreeBSD. I was attempting to write one, but it does not work. Perhaps someone can help me out, pls?? The netca GUI never appeared. Then OUI tried to launch dbca. A blank windows appeared, and a few second later the system rebooted. I uninstalled the whole thing and I tried again to no avail. There are not many clues in the system or Oracle log files.
