It worked fine earlier today, not sure what exactly changed, but when I start mozilla now, I get: % mozilla No running window found. The font worked fine (xterm -fn suxus worked great), but this was making mozilla crash X. I converted the font to a .pcf file (bdftopcf), removed the .gz file, and did a mkfontdir again, and mozilla seems to work great now. --pete To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-gnome" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-gnome Thu Jan 9 23:57:34 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B90DD37B401; Thu, 9 Jan 2003 23:57:33 -0800 (PST) Received: from smtp03.iprimus.com.au (smtp03.iprimus.com.au [210.50.30.52]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1D50D43F65; Thu, 9 Jan 2003 23:57:33 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from matgarnz@iprimus.com.au) Received: from smtp01.iprimus.net.au (210.50.30.70) by smtp03.iprimus.com.au (6.7.010) id 3E0FA3A2000F977B; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 18:57:21 +1100 Received: from [210.50.171.46] ([210.50.171.46]) by smtp01.iprimus.net.au with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.5600); Fri, 10 Jan 2003 18:57:20 +1100 Subject: Re: Updated Mozilla ports From: Matthew Gardiner To: FreeBSD GNOME Users , ports@FreeBSD.org In-Reply-To: <1042141239.469.23.camel@gyros> References: <1042141239.469.23.camel@gyros> Content-Type: text/plain Organization: Message-Id: <1042185468.86719.3.camel@tchaikovsky.stpetersburg> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.2.0 Date: 10 Jan 2003 18:57:49 +1100 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-OriginalArrivalTime: 10 Jan 2003 07:57:21.0704 (UTC) FILETIME=[E7AC3280:01C2B87D] Sender: owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG On Fri, 2003-01-10 at 06:40, Joe Marcus Clarke wrote: > I have completed updates to all the Mozilla ports. I believe Joe already answered that :) 'Until 5.0-RELEASE comes out...' When the ports tree was first tagged for 5.0-RELEASE on January 3rd, the portmgr team announced a partial thaw, but asked that large and important collections of ports not be updated until 5.0-RELEASE is *really* out. Apparently Joe considers Mozilla and the related ports to be such large and important collections, especially if the Mozilla update depends on updates to various other Gtk and GNOME ports - in the thaw announcement, the portmgr team explicitly mentioned KDE and GNOME as examples of groups of ports that should not really be updated unless absolutely necessary. So... unfortunately, it seems that Mozilla-1.2.1 does not have much chance of making it into 5.0-RELEASE, but it will be available very shortly afterwards. Of course, take all of this with a big lump of salt: I am not on either the portmgr or the freebsd-gnome teams, merely expressing my reading of Joe's and portmgr's announcements :) G'luck, Peter --=20 Peter Pentchev roam@ringlet.net roam@FreeBSD.org PGP key: http://people.FreeBSD.org/~roam/roam.key.asc Key fingerprint FDBA FD79 C26F 3C51 C95E DF9E ED18 B68D 1619 4553 This sentence contradicts itself - or rather - well, no, actually it doesn'= t! --BOKacYhQ+x31HxR3 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQE+Ho6G7Ri2jRYZRVMRAhEIAKCDF4Zf1dEGnpEPKPmaYksERX7zQQCgv0hL mf0I/fDznGKBFi4Qi9I06gI= =tFZ6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --BOKacYhQ+x31HxR3-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-gnome" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-gnome Fri Jan 10 3:55:45 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D776237B401; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 03:55:43 -0800 (PST) Received: from smtp04.iprimus.com.au (smtp04.iprimus.com.au [210.50.76.52]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4677D43EB2; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 03:55:39 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from matgarnz@iprimus.com.au) Received: from smtp01.iprimus.net.au (210.50.30.70) by smtp04.iprimus.com.au (6.7.010) id 3DF583C3002F9FFF; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 22:55:32 +1100 Received: from [210.50.171.172] ([210.50.171.172]) by smtp01.iprimus.net.au with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.5600); Fri, 10 Jan 2003 22:55:31 +1100 Subject: Re: Updated Mozilla ports From: Matthew Gardiner To: Peter Pentchev Cc: FreeBSD GNOME Users , ports@FreeBSD.org In-Reply-To: <20030110091239.GA3529@straylight.oblivion.bg> References: <1042141239.469.23.camel@gyros> <1042185468.86719.3.camel@tchaikovsky.stpetersburg> <20030110091239.GA3529@straylight.oblivion.bg> Content-Type: text/plain Organization: Message-Id: <1042199759.12477.2.camel@tchaikovsky.stpetersburg> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.2.0 Date: 10 Jan 2003 22:55:59 +1100 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-OriginalArrivalTime: 10 Jan 2003 11:55:32.0458 (UTC) FILETIME=[2DA034A0:01C2B89F] Sender: owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG On Fri, 2003-01-10 at 20:12, Peter Pentchev wrote: > On Fri, Jan 10, 2003 at 06:57:49PM +1100, Matthew Gardiner wrote: > > On Fri, 2003-01-10 at 06:40, Joe Marcus Clarke wrote: > > > I have completed updates to all the Mozilla ports. I'm looking more forward to the release of GNOME 2.2 with some of the neat features that have been added. regards to GNOME, has anyone considered making a userfriendly front end to ppp ? I used /stand/sysinstall to setup my ppp connection, however, it would be nice to have something like that to allow the user to setup more connections or remove current ones. Gee, thanks for the blame ;-( The main reason I did not do anything about calendar for 1.3a is that the calendar people at mozilla said tht they were working to integrate the calendar build into the standard mozilla build. What would be best is to take a standard calendar build from 1.2 and make it available as a loadable XPI file. However, when I asked the calendar newsgroup some questions about doing a FreeBSD XPI, I got nothing but resounding silence. I asked some questions about the difference between the Linux, windoze and mac XPI's, and again no one bothered to respond. The mozilla calendar developers do not seem to care about promoting it on other platforms. If you go to the calendar website and look at the detailed examples of how to build it, it is pretty simple to do. In the ports tree, do a "make extract" to get the sources. Go to the work directory and follow the standard mozilla instructions for cvs access (cvs login, etc.) Once you have logged on, you can do a "cvs co mozilla/calendar" to acquire the latest calendar sources. At that point, simply add enable-calendar to the configure args in the port makefile and away you go! I had not planned to do anything further with specific calendar support in 1.3a because of the word from the developers that they were integrating with 1.3 for source release. /Joe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-gnome" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-gnome Fri Jan 10 9:34:18 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6144E37B40F; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 09:34:15 -0800 (PST) Received: from creme-brulee.marcuscom.com (rdu57-17-158.nc.rr.com [66.57.17.158]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 768EB43F5B; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 09:34:14 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from marcus@FreeBSD.org) Received: from [10.2.1.4] (vpn-client-4.marcuscom.com [10.2.1.4]) by creme-brulee.marcuscom.com (8.12.6/8.12.6) with ESMTP id h0AHY3TP009846; Fri, 10 Jan 2003 12:34:03 -0500 (EST) (envelope-from marcus@FreeBSD.org) Subject: Re: Updated Mozilla ports From: Joe Marcus Clarke To: Joe Kelsey Cc: Olof Samuelsson , FreeBSD GNOME Users , ports@FreeBSD.org In-Reply-To: <3E1F00CF.5000304@mail.flyingcroc.net> References: <1042141239.469.23.camel@gyros> <1042218659.358.7.camel@gyros> <3E1F00CF.5000304@mail.flyingcroc.net> Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="=-wg+lxPRUF4OJZ/dwxa/I" Organization: FreeBSD, Inc. There is no page that indicates next upgrade, but if you search the archives for this list or ports@, you'll see it isn't scheduled for upgrade until after 5.0-RELEASE comes out (or Kris announces the full ports tree thaw). If you want to update before that, I have my diffs at http://www.marcuscom.com/downloads/freeze/. I have been working closely on the Alpha problem, but have not gotten very close to solving it. If you're building on 5.0, I have a ton of patches that get you all the way to post-build where it crashes (these patches fix the stub compiler errors). Let me know if you're interested. Over the past few months I've submitted some I18N patches, and helped get the thunks patch integrated. Mozilla does their own FreeBSD builds, however. >=20 > > I have been working closely on the Alpha problem, but have not gotten > > very close to solving it. They're only tested against 1.2b, but should work with 1.2.1. Most of them might be unnecessary for 1.3a since it fixes a lot of the 32-bit architecture assumptions. I'll send them to you offline.
