I have tried two Biostar boards M7NCG, M7NCD (both have nVidia nforce chipsets), and both have problems. The G boots till it gets to the disks and hangs. On the D, the kernel presents the copyright notice and dies. I tried the asus a7v333 and, although it seems to boot, it doesnt run with my raid (adaptec 2400). Does anybody have a rig that they are using that runs with no problems so that i can stop fooling around with trying this and that? thanks, ron. On booting the machine, the start up hangs, and after booting the machine would hang when i insert the card. That means the keyboard is not reacting. When i remove the card every thing is fine again. on booting, when card is inserted, i get following output: ... acpi_cpu: throttling enabled, 16 steps (100% to 6.2%), currently 100.0% cbb0: ready never happenend, status 4f CIS is too long -- truncating pccard0: Card has no functions! cbb0: PC Card card activation failed Here the machine just stops and does not react any more. Unfortanetly I have an award bios,(Soyo Dragon Lite KT-333) and have been unable to use the new 5.x series of the system. this sucks, i know i can get by disabling acpi, but i never can get the wheel to work. as i read the fix is to "Revert a previous commit on sys/dev/acpica/acpi_pci_link.c made the mouse work again." I am not able to understand the PR report under the fix section that well to determine if a fix is even disscussed in there." Thanx Hope it gets fixed, i need my mouse back. I just updated my source tree and rebuilt. FreeBSD BlackBsd 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #0: Wed Dec 24 11:00:05 EST 2003 root@BlackBsd:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 Now i am having the problem with PR 55473 i was also informed to try a patch at http://www.FreeBSD.org/~jhb/patches/acpi_link_sta.patch I did this and rebuilt the world, kernel and then installed both. After i reboot, i booted up with acpi support. after login or anytime after the kernel booted up if i pressed any of the mouse buttons the kernel started spitting errors out at me: Dec 24 13:55:25 BlackBsd kernel: psmintr: discard a byte (1) . The patch did not work for me. anyone have any advice? i would like to have a functional mouse. The problem is that I cannot have the duration of the battery on my laptop COMPAQ PRESARIO 1800 with BIOS phoenix (I don't find any update for the BIOS) I Have tried with APM and ACPI. With APM I can have the charge of it only in percent, but I don't know how to configure the POWER button to shutdown the machine as in ACPI. with ACPI I got some errors at the boot, and the suspend doesn't really work, the monitor stay on and when it "wake up" I get some errors that I think are related with the initial errors.
