PPP patch was submitted to Brian for review, however i have not heard from him :( i will re-submit it to the list again. thanks, max To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-mobile Sun Mar 16 12: 8:32 2003 Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7A4A337B401; Sun, 16 Mar 2003 12:08:31 -0800 (PST) Received: from mailbox.univie.ac.at (mail.univie.ac.at [131.130.1.27]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1210443F93; Sun, 16 Mar 2003 12:08:30 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from l.ertl@univie.ac.at) Received: from korben (dialin202.cc.univie.ac.at [131.130.202.202]) by mailbox.univie.ac.at (8.12.2/8.12.2) with ESMTP id h2GK8Am1358170; Sun, 16 Mar 2003 21:08:17 +0100 Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 21:07:57 +0100 (=?ISO-8859-1?Q?Westeurop=E4ische_Normalzeit?=) From: Lukas Ertl To: "Matthew N. I can download items from mobile using obexapp connected to IrMC service. But I'm not able to PUT anything to the phone. I always get Bad request response. I'm not able to send anything from phone to PC. I will put up section about OBEX when I figure how to use it properly. BTW friend with Nokia 6310i was visiting me today, inquiry works, obexapp downloading works, putting does not work. The user is then authenticated on the mac address and ip address they are using as a pair not independently. This would be similar to using a username and password on a radius ppp connection. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be most welcome. I have been playing around with IpFilter and IPFW but the question is how to get the two to work in tandem so that both parameters must match not just one. Thanks in advance. What does not work today, will often work tomorrow (or the next month ;-). For example, I just submitted a laptop comment to your site, but I expect that I'll be submitting a few more updates over the next few months. To make the site easy to use, you'll probably want to merge the comments together (who wants to read lots of possibly conflicting comments to get a vague idea of FreeBSD laptop support?). As the submitters can't edit their own posts, you'll have to do it. However, it is your life, and you're free to spend your time as you wish. ;-) -- Darryl Okahata darrylo@soco.agilent.com DISCLAIMER: this message is the author's personal opinion and does not constitute the support, opinion, or policy of Agilent Technologies, or of the little green men that have been following him all day. I added pccard_enable="YES" to rc.conf and i added an entry for the card in /etc/defaults/pccard.conf. the card is giving me a little problem i can't seem to access the laptop from other local machines. i don't have a firewall on the network and i know it is configured correctly because i can access those same machines from the laptop. i was wondering if there was a patch for 4.7 or 4.8 that i could apply that could make the kernel recognize the card on boot. One more note is that when i was using 5.0 the card was recognized by the kernel so i didn't have to make any changes to rc.conf or /etc/defaults/pccard.conf. Can someone explain to me why that is the case? Fast is > good, cheap is good (but I don't mind paying a little more for fast). I'd > like something that'll do promiscuous mode, and more hardware crypto is > better. Of course, known to work well with -current is a "need to have." Doug, I believe any Prism 2 or Prism 2.5 card (which includes cards from D-Link, Netgear, Intel, Intersil, and Linksys) should work well. I have not tried my Orinoco Gold card, but I am less confident of it. The D-Link DWL-650 (but not the 650+), the Netgear MA401, the Intel PRO/Wireless and the Linksys WPC11 are examples. I am currently using the Intel on my system. Of course, just about every vendor has some history of changing the chip used without changing model numbers, so there are no guarantees that you won't wind up with some mystery chip in a product that works for others. Of course, known to work well with -current is a "need to have." Ok, based on local availability, and recommendations from various folks, I've narrowed it down to aironet 350, and netgear MA401NA. Any commentary on those two cards is welcome. I'm particularly interested in hearing about the netgear card, since wi(4) lists the MA401 model, but not the NA. The web page I use locally (south San Francicso Bay area) is here: http://www.centralcomputer.com/PriceList/Hardware/Networking.htm If anyone sees a really good value on that page that I should consider instead, I'm all ears. Thanks for the suggestions so far, I will of course report back my findings. For most stuff, that's plenty. It's certainly enough to have multiple ssh sessions, MP3 streaming, email, and web browsing going. -- Chris BeHanna Software Engineer (Remove "bogus" before responding.) behanna@bogus.zbzoom.net Turning coffee into software since 1990.
