You are seeing lack of support for the CDRIOCSETBLOCKSIZE ioctl in cd(4). This question comes up from time to time and becomes a question of the duplication of cd(4) by atapicd. A PR 53245 was filed reporting this issue on June 11 which references a similar problem reported March 31. It would be great if the ida driver could be fixed so that I could finally put that 5-CURRENT SMPng schweetness to work! If necessary I would be more than willing to assist in debugging. It probably hadn't been rebooted in 90 days at least. I'm mainly concerned about whether these errors are FreeBSD driver/os related, or there is something wrong with the device (and Arena EX3 6 Bay IDE Desktop unit from raidweb.com). If it can definitely be pointed at the unit, then I can talk to raidweb tech support to resolve it hopefully. I suspect that it is the device, because during the ensuing (purposeful) reboots, occasionally it hangs in the SCSI controller bios partway through detecting the drive. With the GENERIC kernel, everything seemed to be OK, but now that I've compiled a SMP kernel, I get SCB error dumps on boot... But after that, the system runs stable without any error.
