Typically we put the contents of /boot on the EFI partition. That way the loader, kernel and configuration files are accessable under EFI. For this to work, we made /boot a symlink to where we actually want it. So, if you make the EFI partition mounted under /efi, then the installer will create a symlink /boot -> /efi/boot. However, there's currently a problem with the installer. It doesn't actually mount the EFI partition before installing, so all the /boot contents end up on the UFS root partition and not where we want it: the EFI partition. For now, use the CD to boot into FreeBSD and correct it by hand. This should explain why using /boot as the EFI mount point gives the error you're getting. -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Aug 3 13:35:20 I have downloaded all iso files from ftp site, written them with burncd on othe unix machine (FreeBSD-4.9) but any of cd didn't boot. I also tried to burn CDs with nero with option cd copy but that also didn't help. Distribution contains no floppy images. Why? I didn't know what else to do and decided to use i386 5.2.1 RELEASE's images it installed the operation system (during installation i told sysinstall to llok for distribution on one of the local computers near me) but it didn't boot (couldn't load kernel at startup). I gess this action of mine wasn't correct. What else can i do to install this release? Thank you for further help.
