I meant to say FreeBSD ignores RAM above 4GB physical. So depending on your memory map, this may or may not be a problem. -Arun From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Oct 9 18:01:56 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 95B5216A4CE; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:01:56 +0000 (GMT) Received: from virtualhost.dk (ns.virtualhost.dk [195.184.98.160]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CE4B543D41; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:01:55 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from axboe@suse.de) Received: from [62.242.22.158] (helo=wiggum) by virtualhost.dk with esmtp (Exim 3.36 #1) id 1CGLXF-0006eM-00; Sat, 09 Oct 2004 20:01:37 +0200 Received: from axboe by wiggum with local (Exim 4.30) id 1CGLXB-0003Re-CC; Sat, 09 Oct 2004 20:01:33 +0200 Date: Sat, 9 Oct 2004 20:01:33 +0200 From: Jens Axboe To: Arun Sharma Message-ID: <20041009180133.GD13195@suse.de> References: <200410080602.i9862nYp081905@freefall.freebsd.org> <41670570.2080109@intel.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <41670570.2080109@intel.com> Sender: Jens Axboe cc: freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org cc: freebsd-gnats-submit@freebsd.org cc: Mark Linimon cc: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ia64/72128: 5.3-beta6 doesn't boot X-BeenThere: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the IA-64 List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 09 Oct 2004 18:01:56 -0000 On Fri, Oct 08 2004, Arun Sharma wrote: > On 10/7/2004 11:02 PM, Mark Linimon wrote: > > >This may be processor-specific. > > > >http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=72128 > > I just tested that the 5.3-beta7 works fine on a 4 way Tiger with 1GB RAM. > I don't think there have been critical bug fixes between beta6 and beta7 > that affect the tiger. I did attach a monitor as well for testing since I didn't know if freebsd utilized the serial console automatically. I since looked at the boot loader config and saw that it did and the config was correct. -- Jens Axboe From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Oct 9 18:10:29 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 119A916A4CE for ; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:10:29 +0000 (GMT) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 03C6C43D31 for ; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:10:29 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id i99IASQV048137 for ; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:10:28 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.12.11/8.12.11/Submit) id i99IASx8048135; Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:10:28 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Sat, 9 Oct 2004 18:10:28 GMT Message-Id: <200410091810.i99IASx8048135@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.org From: Jens Axboe Subject: Re: ia64/72128: 5.3-beta6 doesn't boot X-BeenThere: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list Reply-To: Jens Axboe List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the IA-64 List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 09 Oct 2004 18:10:29 -0000 The following reply was made to PR ia64/72128; it has been noted by GNATS.
