This feature of the ANSI CAM spec is not universally supported by all CAM SIMs and most likely is not supported well by the XPT. We need to discuss whether this feature is worth preserving in CAM and how best to implement it to reduce the burden on SIM drivers. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=61165 From owner-freebsd-scsi@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Aug 29 13:59:15 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 732AA16A4CE for ; Sun, 29 Aug 2004 13:59:15 +0000 (GMT) Received: from cpc2-cove3-6-0-cust88.brhm.cable.ntl.com (cpc2-cove3-6-0-cust88.brhm.cable.ntl.com [81.107.10.88]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5436943D2F for ; Sun, 29 Aug 2004 13:59:14 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from ianjhart@ntlworld.com) Received: from [192.168.0.12] (gamma.private.lan [192.168.0.12]) ESMTP id i7TDxCKh013341; Sun, 29 Aug 2004 14:59:12 +0100 (BST) (envelope-from ianjhart@ntlworld.com) From: ian j hart To: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org, gkrishnan@zettasystems.com Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2004 14:59:11 +0100 User-Agent: KMail/1.6.2 References: <1426C4DF09E1E246903D4CF2F3711E5E09241F@mail01> In-Reply-To: <1426C4DF09E1E246903D4CF2F3711E5E09241F@mail01> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <200408291459.11842.ianjhart@ntlworld.com> Subject: Re: Adaptec 29320 X-BeenThere: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: SCSI subsystem List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2004 13:59:15 -0000 On Friday 27 August 2004 21:58, Ganapathy "Krish" Krishnan wrote: > Hi Justin, > > Has the Adaptec 29320 card (and 7902W chipset) been extensively production > tested with FreeBSD? > > thanks, > > > Ganapathy Krishnan (Krish), President & CEO > 17311 135th AVE NE > Suite B900 > Woodinville, WA 98072 > + 1.425.485.5548 Office > + 1.425.466.9391 Mobile > gkrishnan@zettasystems.com > Zetta Systems in the news > http://www.zettasystems.com/armstrong/news/storage_supersite/2003_august_04 >. jsp > http://www.zettasystems.com/armstrong/news/storage_magazine/2003_july.jsp > White Papers & Flash Demo > http://www.zettasystems.com/armstrong/library/features.jsp > http://www.zettasystems.com/armstrong/library/zettaFlash8.swf > Not sure about the 'W' but I have a 29320LP running 4.10p2. Certain revs of the 7902 are geared for backplanes, and others are geared for cables, and neither likes having both backplanes and cables in the same chain. 68->80 pin converters are also typically very troublesome. So keep your cable configuration as simple and as in-spec as possible. Long: Hardware being used is a Supermicro 6013P8 with a onboard Adaptec AIC-7902 with an Adaptec 2015S raid module. The system has two internal disks being mirrored raid1. An external raid cabinet, a Infortrend Eonstor A08, is attached as two scsi-3 disk devices. The Adaptec bios does show the devices everytime we reboot. Both 4.10 and 5.3-BETA2 do show the bios exported devices A: till D: Any help would be greatly appriciated. -- Leroy van Logchem ### Output of camcontrol devlist -v on FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE: localhost# camcontrol devlist -v scbus0 on asr0 bus 0: at scbus0 target 0 lun 0 (pass0,da0) at scbus0 target 6 lun 0 (pass1) < > at scbus0 target -1 lun -1 () scbus1 on asr0 bus 1: at scbus1 target 0 lun 0 (pass2,da1) at scbus1 target 0 lun 1 (pass3,da2) < > at scbus1 target -1 lun -1 () scbus-1 on xpt0 bus 0: < > at scbus-1 target -1 lun -1 (xpt0) ### Output of dmesg on FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE: Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
