I would like to set up FreeBSD on an E250 machine recently acquired. I've read through the archives, and see more [or less?] support for mount_smbfs. I will need to utilize this on this machine. This isn't a critical production server, just mainly providing file storage and backup for a small network. Is there solid support for mount_smbfs yet? Should I install 5.2.1, -current, or the snapshot from April 8? Since the 64bTT issue is incorporated into the April 8 snapshot, if I installed that, would cvsup'ing ports basically get me where I need to be? I hit 1) myself and tracked it down to a problem with the DP83840A PHY (nsphy) some hme(4) use. This combination is used on e.g. Ultra 2, Ultra AXi and AFAIK also on Ultra 5 and 10. The problem should be fixed with sys/dev/mii/nsphy.c revision 1.22 and sys/dev/hme/if_hme.c revision 1.23. The hme(4) using LU6612 (ukphy; used on Ultra AXe and Netra T1) or QS6612 (qsphy; used on Ultra 60) appear to be unaffected by 1). As for 2) I didn't manage to reproduce this and I have no idea what could cause it. Could those of you who experience this please update to the latest -current containing the above mentioned revisions, remove whatever workaround you have (e.g. forcing half-duplex) and test if it still is an issue? Does anyone see this also with other NICs (e.g. dc(4), fxp(4), gem(4) or xl(4)) or in another situation than described above (e.g. also in half-duplex mode)? I've just installed 5.2.1-RELEASE on five Sun Netra 120 servers, and I am unable to use the second serial port. There are no hints in the dmesg output, and only /dev/ttya exists in the /dev directory. To be honest, I'm not sure what driver is being used to see the /dev/ttya device on the standard kernel. I'd like to be able to hook up a GPS reciever to the second serial port for accurate NTP source. I'd very much appreciate some assistance with ideas or a solution. The solution proposed in June 2003's discussion: http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/htdig/freebsd-sparc64/2003-June/000242.html made reference to an SIO driver, so I compiled a custom kernel, created the device.hints file as follows: hint.sio.0.at="isa" hint.sio.0.port="0x3F8" hint.sio.0.irq="4" hint.sio.1.at="isa" hint.sio.1.port="0x2E8" installed it, and lo, dmesg now reports: sio0: configured irq 4 not in bitmap of probed irqs 0 sio0: port may not be enabled sio0 at port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa0 sio0: type 16550A sio1 at port 0x2e8-0x2ef on isa0 sio1: type 16550A And, I have /dev/ttyd0 and /dev/ttyd1, however, I'm not 100% certain this is the right way to solve the problem.
