Whoah! I'm glad I saw this email, I wasn't paying much attention, but luckily I saw this before it was done. I would have a HUGE problem with this being removed. I've actually got new customers as a result of my company being listed on the commercial page. I understand that a lot of links are broken and that it's hard to maintain ... but it has been of TREMENDOUS benefit to us. If a doc commiter is willing to do the officials, I'm willing to dontate my time tracking down the broken links and fixing up the page (it would benefit me more anyway, if there were less broken links obscuring my listing) Please don't delete this, I'll help maintain it, it's put money in my pocket. -- Bill Moran Potential Technologies http://www.potentialtech.com From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 3 12:00:04 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9619316A4CE; Wed, 3 Mar 2004 12:00:04 -0800 (PST) Received: from q.closedsrc.org (ip233.gte244.dsl-acs2.sea.iinet.com [209.20.244.233]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5C39943D1D; Wed, 3 Mar 2004 12:00:04 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from question@closedsrc.org) Received: by q.closedsrc.org (Postfix, from userid 1001) id C92CA4505B; Wed, 3 Mar 2004 11:59:01 -0800 (PST) Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 11:59:01 -0800 From: Linh Pham To: Bill Moran Message-ID: <20040303195901.GA66870@q.internal.closedsrc.org> References: <20040303193809.GE300@jenny.daemon.li> <404637F8.5080900@potentialtech.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="jRHKVT23PllUwdXP" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <404637F8.5080900@potentialtech.com> Organization: closedsrc.org Mail-Copies-To: poster X-PGP-Key: http://closedsrc.org/~question/pubkey.asc User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.6i cc: Josef El-Rayes cc: doc@freebsd.org cc: www@freebsd.org Subject: Re: rm -rf gallery/ X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 03 Mar 2004 20:00:04 -0000 --jRHKVT23PllUwdXP Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On 2004-03-03 14:54 -0500, Bill Moran wrote: # Whoah! #=20 # I'm glad I saw this email, I wasn't paying much attention, but luckily # I saw this before it was done. #=20 # I would have a HUGE problem with this being removed. Check that. I took another look, and it appears as though the commercial vendors page is completely different from the gallery. So I reverse my paranoid outburst. Hmm... Maybe... I thought about its historical status few times before. But never got to overhauling or removing it. It's good that this question is re-appeared again. As maintainer of gallery (and ex-maintainer of commercial gallery) I would agree with you arguments about "hard maintaince". I maintain it in semi-automatic mode due to historical reasons. It does not take too much time to handle incoming entries, cleanup and commit them, but checking for 404's and re-born sites is similar to nightmare. But if you'll look on /gallery/ closely you see that there's a some gallery of PoweredBy images, and I don't agree to see them removed (many times I used them as source for my websites, and quite sure others too). Next - it should be announced on news page, submission script should be disabled (or better replaced with dummy one indicating that service is down), hub's stuff need to be cleaned up, etc. Conclusion, I'd like to see patches before they'll be committed. -- /* Alexey Zelkin && Independent Contractor */ /* phantom(at)FreeBSD.org && http://www.FreeBSD.org/java */ /* phantom(at)cris.net && http://www.FreeBSD.org.ua/ */ From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 3 15:17:13 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 68A8D16A4CE; Wed, 3 Mar 2004 15:17:13 -0800 (PST) Received: from tatiana.utanet.at (tatiana.utanet.at [213.90.36.46]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1A7F043D1F; Wed, 3 Mar 2004 15:17:13 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from josef@daemon.li) Received: from patricia.utanet.at ([213.90.36.8]) by tatiana.utanet.at with esmtp (Exim 4.12) id 1Ayfbv-0008Ob-00; Thu, 04 Mar 2004 00:17:07 +0100 Received: from dsl-241-187.utaonline.at ([212.152.241.187] helo=jenny.daemon.li) by patricia.utanet.at with esmtp (Exim 4.12) id 1Ayfbu-00019i-00; Thu, 04 Mar 2004 00:17:07 +0100 Received: by jenny.daemon.li (Postfix, from userid 1005) id 69F0F4FD; Thu, 4 Mar 2004 00:17:02 +0100 (CET) Date: Thu, 4 Mar 2004 00:17:02 +0100 From: Josef El-Rayes To: Alexey Zelkin Message-ID: <20040303231702.GH300@jenny.daemon.li> References: <20040303193809.GE300@jenny.daemon.li> <20040303224341.GA46002@phantom.cris.net> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="hAW+M2+FUO+onfmf" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20040303224341.GA46002@phantom.cris.net> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4.1i X-Operating-System: FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE cc: doc@freebsd.org cc: www@freebsd.org Subject: Re: rm -rf gallery/ X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 03 Mar 2004 23:17:13 -0000 --hAW+M2+FUO+onfmf Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Alexey Zelkin wrote: > But if you'll look > on /gallery/ closely you see that there's a some gallery of PoweredBy ima= ges, > and I don't agree to see them removed (many times I used them as source > for my websites, and quite sure others too). I have semi-automatic scripts half written that check the URLs in the gallery. I got bored of it real soon, but if there's a need then I'll run them back up again. My plan was to keep them all in a database and remove them after three consecutive failures (checked once or twice a week). Obviously this doesn't catch porn sites and the like, but they do say that the pornography industry is a fantastic testing ground for stable technology ;-) Ceri --=20 --2B/JsCI69OhZNC5r Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFARyw4ocfcwTS3JF8RAmlIAJ4zBJntlEnDoT6e9PjLZTc3obZgEACePRZc bKvVleEFCAUT7o9PyEkOCX4= =Zulm -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --2B/JsCI69OhZNC5r-- From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 5 02:16:52 2004 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BDD0016A4CE; Fri, 5 Mar 2004 02:16:52 -0800 (PST) Received: from camel.jerocu.net (62-15-142-182.inversas.jazztel.es [62.15.142.182]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F1B6B43D39; Fri, 5 Mar 2004 02:16:51 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from jesusr@freebsd.org) Received: from camel.jerocu.net (camel.jerocu.net [192.168.1.12]) by camel.jerocu.net (8.12.10/8.12.10) with ESMTP id i25AEuRO052779; Fri, 5 Mar 2004 11:14:56 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from jesusr@freebsd.org) Date: Fri, 5 Mar 2004 11:14:56 +0100 (CET) From: Jesus Rodriguez X-X-Sender: jesusr@camel.jerocu.net To: World Wide Web Owner In-Reply-To: <200403042143.i24LhhOX027016@www.freebsd.org> Message-ID: <20040305111405.Y52689@camel.jerocu.net> References: <200403042143.i24LhhOX027016@www.freebsd.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-2.5 required=5.0 tests=EMAIL_ATTRIBUTION,IN_REP_TO,QUOTED_EMAIL_TEXT,REFERENCES, REPLY_WITH_QUOTES version=2.55 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) cc: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Subject: Re: FreeBSD web build failed on www.freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 05 Mar 2004 10:16:53 -0000 On Thu, 4 Mar 2004, World Wide Web Owner wrote: > /usr/bin/sed -e 's///' faq2.sgml | /usr/bin/env SGML_CATALOG_FILES= /usr/local/bin/sgmlnorm -d -c /usr/local/share/sgml/html/catalog -D /w/www/build/www/es/gnome/docs > faq2.html || (/bin/rm -f faq2.html && false) > /usr/local/bin/tidy -i -m -raw -preserve -f /dev/null -asxml faq2.html > make: don't know how to make gnome_porting.html.
