The Linux driver they give on their website is, shall we say, barely ok. Xi Graphics has a driver for Linux and Solaris but not fre FreeBSD because, they say, there have not been enough demand. I, for one, didn't even knew that Xi was an alternative but throwing back the ball, saying that they can't market their product, won't do much good. So I'm asking: Would there be some way(s) to reach FreeBSD users who have a Parhelia card? http://www.xig.com/Pages/Summit/CardsChips/Matrox/ParHelia/MatroxParheliaINTRO.html Vincent drvince@anonymnet.net From owner-freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Aug 9 21:00:34 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-advocacy@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-advocacy@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EAFF816A41F for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 21:00:34 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B5F4B43D6B for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 21:00:32 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id j79L0W2J084128 for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 21:00:32 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.3/8.13.1/Submit) id j79L0WEY084117; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 21:00:32 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Tue, 9 Aug 2005 21:00:32 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200508092100.j79L0WEY084117@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, "Andreas Kohn" Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 80DA616A41F for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 20:54:16 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from andreas@syndrom23.de) Received: from vs159088.vserver.de (syndrom23.de [62.75.159.88]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9C05343D48 for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 20:54:15 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from andreas@syndrom23.de) Received: from klamath.syndrom23.de ([212.204.44.203]) by vs159088.vserver.de (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id j79KroU7022017 for ; Tue, 9 Aug 2005 22:54:02 +0200 Message-Id: <1123620854.0@klamath.syndrom23.de> Date: Tue, 9 Aug 2005 22:54:14 +0200 From: "Andreas Kohn" To: "FreeBSD gnats submit" X-Send-Pr-Version: gtk-send-pr 0.4.6 Cc: Subject: advocacy/84719: [NEW PORT] devel/libnotify: desktop notification library X-BeenThere: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Evangelism List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 09 Aug 2005 21:00:35 -0000 >Number: 84719 >Category: advocacy >Synopsis: [NEW PORT] devel/libnotify: desktop notification library >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-advocacy >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Tue Aug 09 21:00:31 GMT 2005 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Andreas Kohn >Release: FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT i386 >Organization: >Environment: System: FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #11: Wed Jul 20 20:13:51 CEST 2005 root@klamath.syndrom23.de:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/KLAMATH >Description: The Desktop Notifications framework provides a standard way of doing passive pop-up notifications on the Linux desktop. These are designed to notify the user of something without interrupting their work with a dialog box that they must close. Passive popups can automatically disappear after a short period of time.
