Had we had a place to meet consistently, I'm fairly sure that there would have been a solid user group. Switching from restaurant to restaurant for the meeting is a recipe for failure, however. Having organized the last one, however, I'm perfectly delighted to let someone else take point this time around. Let me know when it is, and I'll show up. Heck, I'll even figure out something to present for the first meeting if desired. (I'm a fan of the semislug-style meeting format, where you have a presenter each evening... gives people a reason to show up.) I started a BSD user group in Munich with the opposite view: A previous BSD user group here had died a boring death partly because IMO it kept meeting in the same boring small local bar. The Munich group http://berklix.org/bim/ we later created has been meeting in a different restaurant every month for years now, (Indian, Greek, Persian, Bavarian, Italian etc) & we're still doing that. A few in Munich then wanted to meet in the same place every month, & they splintered of. We (BIM) decide where we're going by nominating & voting on our mail list, hence people get to see who else is up for it this month etc. To see how we do it http://berklix.org/bim/stammtisch/ If you need a mail list to co-ord it, I can give you one if no one nearer will. > But, if someone wants to take point on getting a place in east or > central SeMI, I'd show up.
