Regarding the PXE installer: IIRC this is more or less a cut&paste from a message in the mailinglists. If you know Solaris Jumpstart: it's something like this. Just do a PXE boot from a special server and you get the box installed. I think the simplest implementation would be a "boot a minimal system, parition the disk, extract an archive"-one.
