These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. I was looking at the document mentioned in the subject line (at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/multi-os/index.html ), and saw that it was somewhat out of date (it discusses Win95 and FAT, but no mention of anything with NTFS). Any idea if this might be updated soon? Or where else to look? It's not clear to me how much of this applies to NTFS and Win2k... "Hardware Notes" is the document you > can find at http://www.freebsd.org/relnotes/CURRENT/hardware/ or > http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.4R/hardware.html . Oops! Sorry, got confused there, I need to start my day with more coffee. Still I think it's strange; most of the other drivers do list their hardware irrespective of how many controllers they support. And if the list would never be complete, why does the man page still include such a list? In any case, if this is what was decided then that's ok with me too. --Stijn -- MY HATE OF D02 KNOW NO LIMIT -- A Silent Wail, http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31914 From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jun 21 09:42:06 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5B1B516A41C; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:42:06 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from jcamou@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 32EB743D53; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:42:06 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from jcamou@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (jcamou@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.3/8.13.3) with ESMTP id j5L9g6nC023986; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:42:06 GMT (envelope-from jcamou@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from jcamou@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.3/8.13.1/Submit) id j5L9g68O023982; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:42:06 GMT (envelope-from jcamou) Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:42:06 GMT From: "Jesus R. I've discussed this with simon and brueffer, and I have a patch that: 1. Adds a standard HARDWARE section to the ata(4) manual page. 2. Makes the hardware notes use the ata(4) manual page for automatic generation. 3. Adds a bunch of supported chipsets that's missing in the ata(4) manual page. I'm not going to commit it however. -- Joel From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jun 21 16:46:33 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AC4AB16A41C; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 16:46:33 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from matteo@freebsd.org) Received: from vsmtp1.tin.it (vsmtp1.tin.it [212.216.176.141]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 678C143D1F; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 16:46:33 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from matteo@freebsd.org) Received: from kaiser.sig11.org (82.48.161.190) by vsmtp1.tin.it (7.0.027) id 42B34D850018E316; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 18:46:31 +0200 Received: by kaiser.sig11.org (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 779476325; Tue, 21 Jun 2005 18:46:31 +0200 (CEST) Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 18:46:31 +0200 From: Matteo Riondato To: John Baldwin Message-ID: <20050621164631.GT3352@kaiser.sig11.org> Mail-Followup-To: Matteo Riondato , John Baldwin , freebsd-doc@freebsd.org, Stijn Hoop , pgabriel@grex.cyberspace.org References: <200506210623.j5L6NR3B004615@freefall.freebsd.org> <20050621063304.GL3346@pcwin002.win.tue.nl> <20050621064402.GP3352@kaiser.sig11.org> <200506211101.09214.jhb@FreeBSD.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <200506211101.09214.jhb@FreeBSD.org> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4.2.1i Cc: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org, pgabriel@grex.cyberspace.org Subject: Re: docs/80611: Missing items in supported hardware list on your site for FreeSD 4.11 and 5.x X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 16:46:33 -0000 On Tue, Jun 21, 2005 at 11:01:07AM -0400, John Baldwin wrote: > > Aren't the hardware notes supposed to be generated from the man pages for most > drivers now? The term 'static' here is a warning that these functions are not thread-safe. It does NOT mean that the ``bname'' object that is internal to basename() is actually an array declared as: char bname[MAXPATHLEN]; It merely means that multiple invocations of the function from concurrent threads may clobber each other's data, so some form of locking should be used around calls to basename() from threaded applications or the function should be avoided altogether. If I remember correctly the bibliography in the handbook was at one point a rather ad-hoc affair just using and such and so there was a project to use a proper DocBook , done by Val Vaschetto at the suggestion of Nik and/or I. Books could then query/include those items from the proper bibliography that are referenced, and we wouldn't need to maintain all the bibliographical data in multiple books. That is the goal, but I think the reality is that it was never finished. In either case, the long term goal or the intermediate place we're at now, I don't think there is a need to have the bibliography directory added to the Makefile. - Murray From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jun 23 15:42:05 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 66BF516A41C for ; Thu, 23 Jun 2005 15:42:05 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from keramida@freebsd.org) Received: from kane.otenet.gr (kane.otenet.gr [195.170.0.95]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DA2B043D48 for ; Thu, 23 Jun 2005 15:42:04 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from keramida@freebsd.org) Received: from orion.daedalusnetworks.priv (aris.bedc.ondsl.gr [62.103.39.226]) by kane.otenet.gr (8.13.4/8.13.4/Debian-1) with SMTP id j5NFg1Fs018297; Thu, 23 Jun 2005 18:42:02 +0300 Received: from orion.daedalusnetworks.priv (orion [127.0.0.1]) by orion.daedalusnetworks.priv (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id j5NFg17T019343; Thu, 23 Jun 2005 18:42:01 +0300 (EEST) (envelope-from keramida@freebsd.org) Received: (from keramida@localhost) by orion.daedalusnetworks.priv (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id j5NFg19e019342; Thu, 23 Jun 2005 18:42:01 +0300 (EEST) (envelope-from keramida@freebsd.org) Date: Thu, 23 Jun 2005 18:42:01 +0300 From: Giorgos Keramidas To: Murray Stokely Message-ID: <20050623154201.GA19223@orion.daedalusnetworks.priv> References: <200506231530.j5NFUMfp097971@freefall.freebsd.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <200506231530.j5NFUMfp097971@freefall.freebsd.org> Cc: Benjamin Marschall , freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Subject: Re: docs/82540: [patch] added en_US.ISO8859-1/books/bibliography to Makefiles X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 23 Jun 2005 15:42:05 -0000 On 2005-06-23 15:30, Murray Stokely wrote: >On Thu, Jun 23, 2005 at 03:33:44PM +0300, Giorgos Keramidas wrote: >>On 2005-06-22 17:36, Benjamin Marschall wrote: >>> en_US.ISO8859-1/books/bibliography wasn't included in the >>> en_US.ISO8859-1/books/ Makefile >> >> I think this was intentional, to avoid having the "bibliography" book >> appear on the web site. Thanks! That pretty much clears everything up. If Benjamin has no objection, then, I'd like to close the PR (as part of an effort to bring the doc/www PRs down to a much smaller number, like the one I remember we used to have in 2000/2001). - Giorgos From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jun 23 17:40:16 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7359C16A41C for ;
