Sincere thanks to Ariff@FreeBSD.org. After applying his patch to my RELENG_6 source and rebuilding world and kernel, I now have sound from my Shuttle ST62K (w/FT62 mainboard). $ cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Installed devices: pcm0: <ATI IXP 200> at memory 0xe8205000 irq 17 kld snd_atiixp (1p/0s/1r/1v channels duplex default) $ dmesg | grep pcm timer: 0x000100ef therm: 0x00010000 err: 0x00010000 pcm: 0x00010000 pcm0: <ATI IXP 200> mem 0xe8205000-0xe82050ff irq 17 at device 20.5 on pci0 pcm0: Reserved 0x100 bytes for rid 0x10 type 3 at 0xe8205000 pcm0: [MPSAFE] pcm0: <Avance Logic ALC650 AC97 Codec (id = 0x414c4720)> pcm0: Codec features 20 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, 5 bit master volume, Realtek 3D Stereo Enhancement pcm0: Primary codec extended features variable rate PCM, double rate PCM, reserved 1, center DAC, surround DAC, LFE DAC, reserved 4 pcm0: ac97 codec dac ready count: 0 pcm0: sndbuf_setmap c44000, 1000; 0xc2c90000 -> c44000 pcm0: sndbuf_setmap 3e7000, 1000; 0xc2c93000 -> 3e7000 I am now enjoying XMMS and ZSNES for the first time in months. (The front panel headphones-out doesn't work yet, but I can plug them into the base of speaker#1 so no great loss there.) Thanks! ps, feel free to request other ATI driver testing. It's the least I can do. -- Albert Vest, al vest at earth link dot net
