The following reply was made to PR i386/88610; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "Mitch \(Bitblock\)" <mitch@bitblock.com> To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, mitch@bitblock.com Cc: Subject: Re: i386/88610: FreeBSD 6.0 bootonly crashes during boot after sis0, during sis1 w/ Fault 12 (Rel 5.4 works fine) Date: Sat, 12 Nov 2005 16:32:25 -0800 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_00AD_01C5E7A6.AA2A6660 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Following up to my own post... I've just tried a single port NIC in the PCI slot - that combination boots fine. But, as I mentioned before, it doesn't seem to matter the chipset or PCI bridge chip (tried two different ones) - it just seems to be that 6th network interface... I don't have a dual port NIC readily available or I'd test that, but again, it just seems to be related to this base board - BUT it worked in 5.4. ( the NIC that works was an intel / fxp nic) Thanks! ------=_NextPart_000_00AD_01C5E7A6.AA2A6660 Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" = xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">
<META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"> <meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 11 (filtered medium)">

<font size=3D2 color=3Dblack face=3D"Courier = New"><span style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;color:black'>Following up to my own post... = I've just tried a single port NIC in the PCI slot - that combination boots fine. = But, as I mentioned before, it doesn't seem to matter the chipset or PCI bridge = chip (tried two different ones) - it just seems to be that 6th network = interface...

<font size=3D2 color=3Dblack face=3D"Courier = New"><span style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;color:black'> </p= >
<font size=3D2 color=3Dblack face=3D"Courier = New"><span style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;color:black'>I don't have a dual port NIC = readily available or I'd test that, but again, it just seems to be related to = this base board - BUT it worked in 5.4.

<font size=3D2 color=3Dblack face=3D"Courier = New"><span style=3D'font-size:10.0pt;color:black'> </p= >
<span = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial'>( the NIC that works was an intel / fxp = nic)

<span = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial'>

<span = style=3D'font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Arial'>Thanks!

------=_NextPart_000_00AD_01C5E7A6.AA2A6660--
