I installed the bktr driver, all went ok. dmesg output: # dmesg | grep bktr bktr0: mem 0xe6000000-0xe6000fff irq 5 at device 9.0 on pci= 0 bktr0: Leadtek Winfast TV 2000, Philips FR1236 NTSC FM tuner. This means the card is detected and should be working? What software should I use? I tried xawtv without success, since scantv is for some reasons not included in the package installed from port. What should I scan channels with? Also looked into mythtv, but then realised it works only with Hauppauge PVR-250 card. The card works on windows as I tested. I even got channel frequencies from the windows application, but here in scantv, those frequencies get passed with "no station". What could be the problem? I live in Lithuania, where we use PAL system, but in the selection there are some other two's: PAL-M and PAL-N , can this be an issue? I do a full scan (scantv -a) so the frequency table (I use europe-east) should not matter. The GPL license in it comes from that in grab.c (from which the code is partly derived), otherwise I would have used BSDL :) I'm more than happy to see it softened to LGPL. Strictly speaking I suppose formal permission would have to come from the author of grab.c too, but since that code is now in LGPL that shouldn't be a problem. I saw this gadget in my local "computers, tools and anything" store, and just had to buy it. It is a telephone (handset) with an usb connector. On the box, it is labeled as "USB broadband telephone", and on the back it says "supports most Softphone programs, protocol independent, H.323 or SIP, conforms to USB 12 Mbps 1.1 standard, conforms to USB audio device release 1.0, real-time volumen adjustment button". I repeat this here because the Doro web page (http://www.doro.com/) was less than informational in describing their products. The manual says that only Win 98SE/ME/2000/XP or Mac OS9 / OSX is supported, but I already guessed that (except for the Mac part). For the 'udesc_dump' case, wouldn't that just mean that uhid (and other u* (usb) drivers) would have sort of a "fall through" to ugen (or at least ugen functionality)? I mean, the device descriptor is supported on all devices, right? So uhid and other usb drivers would pass any requests they don't support natively to ugen. Oh well, it probably would complicate things in the usb drivers. -- Regards, Torfinn Ingolfsen, Norway From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sat May 21 09:59:29 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 468F416A4CE for ; Sat, 21 May 2005 09:59:29 +0000 (GMT) Received: from zproxy.gmail.com (zproxy.gmail.com [64.233.162.205]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5EAE643DA3 for ; Sat, 21 May 2005 09:59:28 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from karolis.t@gmail.com) Received: by zproxy.gmail.com with SMTP id 16so1987930nzp for ; Sat, 21 May 2005 02:59:27 -0700 (PDT) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:message-id:date:from:reply-to:to:subject:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition; b=LCunIHw0T0EtKHewcAgyr6bfu3UmOdPxcruQjeCv9RlCYRxyikV2GG2ddP1D/6oMwb0Y5B0pfgUFCjCb4REVBV5JqwuabOdd+aIr91BnR3jeEQRK+OZlGTTz8Bmd0+ohFhrklpLsRX4PvN2CcE1vaNYnjc7qt8uHrrP35DFtwuM= Received: by 10.36.42.13 with SMTP id p13mr1028667nzp; Sat, 21 May 2005 02:59:27 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.36.42.9 with HTTP; Sat, 21 May 2005 02:59:27 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <6f896f9a0505210259118837f8@mail.gmail.com> Date: Sat, 21 May 2005 13:59:27 +0400 From: Karolis Tamutis To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline Subject: Fxtv problem X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list Reply-To: Karolis Tamutis List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 21 May 2005 09:59:29 -0000 Hello, I have some problems starting fxtv. Here's what the output of fxtv says: $ fxtv Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged Warning: Cannot convert string "*lucida*bold-r-*12*iso8859-1" to type FontS= truct No matching font(s) registered with X Server: -adobe-utopia-regular-r-*-*-0-0-*-*-*-0-iso8859-1 Falling back on '10x20' font. Whoah! Failed to load font '10x20' which X 'said' it knew about. This shouldn't happen (but does in XFree86 3.9.16). Basically, choose another font or take the default font. And it just crashes. The problem is that pipes are setup/stopped/aborted and not transfers. Then ugen might infer with transfers that were not started by ugen. Also the setting of configuration index and alternate index has got to be under some restrictions. If you got device "snd_uaudio" loaded or compiled into the kernel, a /dev/dspX.X" device should be created for your telephone.
