Sorry about my heretic question, but I remember myself I bought two identical A7V motherboards for our lab year's ago, both driven by Windows 2000 and later Windows XP and FreeBSD. On box never had problems being switched off via push-button or shutdown -p, the other box never performed this task! Even not on Windows. Both boxes used the same BIOS versions, same CPU, same peripherial hardware ... But I never examined the board revision ... Hi Alexandre, I've got exactly the same model (since 5 days ago). On mine, it shows 7 warnings but no errors. Nevertheless, it cannot reboot or shutdown under FreeBSD (which sadly means I'll have to switch to Linux, unless I find out that FreeBSD 6.2-BETA3 makes things work). I can send you acpidump's output from my machine if you wish. Now I bying laptop HP Compaq nc6320 ES479EA. I install FreeBSD CURRENT 7.0 on it. I see some bugs in ACPI on this laptop: 1) My kernel permanently generated messages like: acpi_tz0: _CRT value is absurd, ignored (256.0C) 2) When I boot whithount plugging to power in variable hw.acpi.battery.time placed absurd value (about 2000 minutes 33 hours!) So I used two batterys simultaneously (primary and secondary) but this of course wrong value - 2000 min :). If I boot with plugged power and detach power after the boot variable hw.acpi.battery.time show good forecast. Again, when I my secondary battery decharged, variable hw.acpi.battery.time began to show good forecast. I would be happy to help FreeBSD community any test on this laptop model. following is my dmesg: Copyright (c) 1992-2006 The FreeBSD Project.
