I couldn't find any information about the motherboard on http://www.freebsd.org/platforms/amd64/motherboards.html. I will run freebsd 6.0 with a RAID1 solution with two SATA drives. Would be great to hear some success stories about it! :) Motherboard specifications: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx? Also, will Sound and USB be all? Should I also try another Graphics Card? However, as the problem just occurs intermittent (sometimes it doesn't show for 2 - 3 weeks, then again it happens 3 times a day) it may take a bit for me to get back to this; I'll try to run some "heavy" tests at latest over this weekend... It's still not marked broken for amd64? I had same question a while back and submitted a PR. Someone subsequently did make an effort at resolution but, iirc, concluded that the app's code just wasn't 64 bit architecture friendly. Maybe something has changed since then? Anyhow, search the PR database for this port and see what you find. -- Best regards, Ken Gunderson Q: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. I shot an inquiry to the gmail address of the sunfire x2100 poster to the amd64- hardware page but didn't get any reply there either. Anyhow, here goes.... I've been using gmirror for quite some while now and it's worked well for me. However, I was curious how it performed in comparison to nVidia onboard raid offerings on various nforce boards that FreeBSD now supports. For example, the fbsd-adm64 mainboard support page links to this dmesg for a Sun X2100: The part piquing my curiosity being: "The onboard raid is fully functional to me (WD Raptors instead of the stock seagate disks). I made a bonnie test which showed imressive perfomance, but slightly hight CPU usage." Is anyone aware of any benchmarks comparing the nvidia raid1 to gmirror? Or have any additional insights? I don't have a machine free I can test on at the moment but might in next week or two if anyone else is interested. -- Best regards, Ken Gunderson Q: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. I've stayed away from onboard stuff since it's had a reputation of being wonky in the past. The comments from the dmesg just say "impressive". Coincidentally enough I do have a Tyan 2865 based system configured w/gmirror on a pair of WD 74GB Raptors in a 6.0-RELEASE-p7 box sporting an Opteron 165. So the mainboard and HD's are the same as the dmesg poster. fwiw- a quick default bonnie. A friend of mine found that transmit interrupts don't appear to be occuring at all. The only reason that the driver appears to work is that receive packets/interrupts usually occur often enough so that the transmit run-down still occurs often enough...except when it doesn't. If you do a simple test of (only) sending UDP datagrams, for example, the driver will eventually run out of buffers (or TX descriptors? - not sure which), and the driver will be wedged up with no buffer space until a packet is received (e.g. by a ping from another host). With the patch in current, this reduces the no buffer space dead time to eight seconds (the watchdog timeout), but that is still quite broken. I don't have the documentation for the nve programming API, otherwise I'd be tempted to try to figure out why it is broken. Maybe someone who has access to that info can look into this? -DG David G. Reinstallation of kile did not help. I noticed that at least two dependencies were upgraded: lua-5.0.2.1 and fontconfig-2.3.2_3,1 to lua-5.1 and fontconfig-2.3.2_4 respectively. The above quoted ifdef construct would be one of those. As soon as this driver actually hits the actual /usr/src tree .. all these "shims" like the current manual define of DEVICE_POLLING and similar constructs can be removed. But as long as we're building from a directory outside of /usr/src proper ... constructs like the above quoted HAVE_KERNEL_OPTION_HEADERS simply don't work as supposed to. I probably had some mismatch of the former driver from 0428 and the new one or copied the wrong ko into kernel. I made it clean and now it is working on the nforce3 ultra as well. Seems the source is tagged 6.1-STABLE now. Polling is on and working on both also. thank's Joćo A mensagem foi scaneada pelo sistema de e-mail e pode ser considerada segura.
