These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. It's at least possible they meant "...take onboard..."; I'm not sure the notion of "taking on broad concepts" matches the reassuring tone of the intro. :-) The sentence also has a comma splice, something like the following might be more clear: "Working through this section requires little more than the desire to explore and the ability to learn new concepts as they are introduced." -- -Chuck From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 12 14:49:03 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: doc@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E2A5D16A50A for ; Tue, 12 Dec 2006 14:49:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from arkadia@real-estate.bz) Received: from real-estate.bz (ns36026.ovh.net [213.251.187.168]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 5545B44154 for ; Tue, 12 Dec 2006 14:42:58 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from arkadia@real-estate.bz) Received: from NS36026 ([213.251.187.168]) by real-estate.bz with hMailServer ; Tue, 12 Dec 2006 15:44:12 +0100 From: "Arkadia" To: doc@freebsd.org Message-ID: Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 14:44:12 GMT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" MIME-Version: 1.0 Cc: Subject: Link Exchange with Arkadia.com X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Arkadia List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 14:49:04 -0000 Greetings, We find your site interesting and useful, and we would like to partner with your site by exchanging links. Well, firstly this is semantics, not grammar; but "take on board" is a nautical metaphor, and completely correct. "on broad" doesn't mean anything to me. That word doesn't appear in my dictionary, and it's pretty clear from the context that it applies to the following (from the OED): 14e. to take on board (fig.), to drink or consume; to swallow; also, to accept (an idea, etc.), to grasp. Documentation for both of these is available in the same directory. FIPS, PResizer, and PartitionMagic can resize FAT16 and FAT32 partitions." I am wondering if this is old/outdated information that hasn't been expunged and if it is something that you will have to correct? I am using PC-BSD 1.2 based on FreeBSD 6.1 and have used find, locate, and whereis and am told by find that there are no such directories or files called FIPS or PResizer. Since this isn't a FreeBSD install, I looked in the ports to see if I could find them but they are not available there either. If the above information is still correct, could you please tell me which CD I will have to download in order to find these two programs. Thank You, goatman > _______________________________________________ Hello Jim, First of all welcome to FreeBSD, I hope it meets your expectations and more :-). Thank you very much for considering to email us of potential short-comings, things that we might be able to use to improve our product. For your question you can best look into the URL I will put in below, the reference here is to the official FreeBSD release CD's and can be found on any official ftp mirror for FreeBSD. PC-BSD and for example FreeSBIE use FreeBSD as their foundation, but I can imagine that they strip out certain parts or do not install certain parts of the Operating System because of preference or things like that. The URL: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/tools/ I hope this helps you, if you have additional questions, please refer to the freebsd-questions mailinglist, which is even better suited for your question; you can find the mailinglist on the same location you found this mailinglist: http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions. Goodluck! Best regards, Remko -- Kind regards, Remko Lodder ** remko@elvandar.org FreeBSD ** remko@FreeBSD.org /* Quis custodiet ipsos custodes */
