First, I will apologize about my bad english... sorry... Well, yesterday I was portupgraded all my ports to the latest (cvsuped in saturday). The problem is, after a good upgrade of all ports, without any problem (included the new linux-base), when I start a "gnome-session", I'm having two notifications: "The application mixer_applet2 has quit unexpectedly" and "The application gnome-settings-daemon has quit unexpectedly" All with a general problem to locate all of the system icons in my desktop. Worried for this, I executed a pkg_delete -rf gnome2, and without any gnome port in my system, I has to make a new cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome2 && make install clean. The install was without any problem, but the problem persists, even with a reboot of the machine (I hasn't any more ideas :-( )... Could you help me please?? Here you are more information: http://www.toomany.net/ports.txt.gz installed ports. http://www.toomany.net/pciconf.txt.gz pciconf output. http://www.toomany.net/ps-axf.txt.gz ps axf output without gnome and X http://www.toomany.net/make.conf.gz compillation options. http://www.toomany.net/dot.xinitrc.txt.gz .xinitrc The upgrade was from gnome 2.14.(1) to the latest in ports. And, if so > could you suggest somthign I should look at to fix it? avahi and howl both install files of the same names in the same locations, so it is impossible to install both. As avahi has a howl compatibility layer, it is a drop-in replacement and should be installed with the command: portupgrade -o /usr/ports/net/avahi -f howl This assumes that you use portupgrade and your ports tree is in the standard location. -- R. Note the lack of a space before the backslash on the -DHAS_TMPL_RETENTION line. "preprocessor.pl" appears to be mistakenly joining things together, resulting in the failure. Further investigation needs to be carried out there by someone more familiar than me with the mozilla build process. It should be noted, however, that both www/mozilla and www/firefox built successfully here (x11/gnome2 was one of the test cases) on 6- STABLE /i386 and /amd64. -aDe From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Jun 30 02:50:25 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 057AB16A55E; Fri, 30 Jun 2006 02:50:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from scott-allendorf@uiowa.edu) Received: from newton.physics.uiowa.edu (newton.physics.uiowa.edu [128.255.34.132]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AC9D743E7A; Fri, 30 Jun 2006 02:17:48 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from scott-allendorf@uiowa.edu) Received: from [192.168.0.4] (12-215-147-187.client.mchsi.com [12.215.147.187]) (authenticated bits=0) by newton.physics.uiowa.edu (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id k5U2HhwP007545 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Thu, 29 Jun 2006 21:17:47 -0500 (CDT) (envelope-from scott-allendorf@uiowa.edu) Message-ID: <44A489BE.9060705@uiowa.edu> Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2006 21:17:34 -0500 From: Scott Allendorf Organization: The University of Iowa, Department of Physics and Astronomy User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Ade Lovett , gnome@freebsd.org References: <44A44ECA.4000604@uiowa.edu> <5F273B02-A02D-40F6-B729-28CE05BAAA89@freebsd.org> In-Reply-To: <5F273B02-A02D-40F6-B729-28CE05BAAA89@freebsd.org> Content-Type: multipart/signed; protocol="application/x-pkcs7-signature"; micalg=sha1; boundary="------------ms070802060203080403080802" Cc: Subject: Re: devel/gmake upgrade breaks www/mozilla compile X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 30 Jun 2006 02:50:25 -0000 This is a cryptographically signed message in MIME format. --------------ms070802060203080403080802 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Ade Lovett wrote: >> /usr/local/bin/perl5.8.8 -I../../config ../../config/ preprocessor.pl >> -DNAMESPACE=http://www.w3.org/2000/10/18/P3Pv1 \ >> -DHAS_TMPL_RETENTION\ >> resources/content/p3p.xsl.in > p3p200010.xsl >> ../../config/preprocessor.pl: invalid argument to -D: >> HAS_TMPL_RETENTIONresources/content/p3p.xsl.in > > Looks like a perl issue to me. On 6-STABLE/i386 I did: 1) 'make all' in www/mozilla (worked) 2) portupgrade gmake (worked) 3) 'make clean' in www/mozilla (worked) 4) 'make all' in www/mozilla (fails as above) While the fault may ultimately lie in perl or even the mozilla port, clearly the change in gmake triggered it. The behavior is identical on 4-STABLE systems. I just tried building www/mozilla on a bare system: 0) 6-STABLE as of 6/19/2006 at about 15:00 UT 1) Ports cvsuped at about 0:00 UT on 6/30/06. 2) /usr/local, /usr/X11R6, /usr/compat empty 3) cd /usr/ports/www/mozilla 4) make all (and leave options at defaults) This fails exactly as above. In the Makefile, I see: p3p200010.xsl: resources/content/p3p.xsl.in Makefile.in @$(RM) -f $@ $(PP) -DNAMESPACE=http://www.w3.org/2000/10/18/P3Pv1 \ -DHAS_TMPL_RETENTION\ $< > $@ Is it possible that the new gmake handles the $< substitution differently, possibly eating a space that the old version left behind? I have verified that the compiler error can be fixed by adding a space before the last backslash (and all other similar occurrences in the Makefile), but I wonder if this is still a gmake issue. I also wonder why you aren't seeing this build failure. Thank you for all of your efforts, Scott -- Scott C. I'm not sure of the best way to do this to preserve POLA, while still making it possible to compile librsvg2 without gnome (my reason for doing this in the first place). There are patches for libXft and cairo, which seem to heavily improve truetype font rendering (at least on my LCD monitor), at http://turnerdavid.neuf.fr/freetype/patches/font-patches.html Is there any chance that they could be added to libXft and cairo ports (WITH_LCD_RENDERING_PATCH knob maybe)? I'm asking cause author of these patches is unsure about licensing (cleartype patents are mentioned). And also, recent libXft doesn't compile with cjk patch (WITH_CJK knob defined) on recent -CURRENT/amd64: cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/local/include/freetype2 -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wnested-externs -fno-strict-aliasing -O -g -pipe -MT xftfreetype.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/xftfreetype.Tpo -c xftfreetype.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/xftfreetype.o xftfreetype.c: In function `XftFontInfoFill': xftfreetype.c:526: error: `FC_EMBEDDED_BITMAP' undeclared (first use in this function) xftfreetype.c:526: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once xftfreetype.c:526: error: for each function it appears in.) xftfreetype.c:565: error: `FC_USE_GAMMA' undeclared (first use in this function) gmake[1]: *** [xftfreetype.lo] Error 1 gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/ports/x11-fonts/libXft/work/libXft-2.1.7' gmake: *** [all] Error 2 *** Error code 2 Stop in /usr/ports/x11-fonts/libXft. --- Yuri From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jul 1 22:39:23 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 51B0616A412; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:39:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from edwin@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E2A0C43DE1; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:39:16 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from edwin@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (edwin@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id k61MdGAM029750; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:39:16 GMT (envelope-from edwin@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from edwin@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id k61MdG77029746; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:39:16 GMT (envelope-from edwin) Date: Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:39:16 GMT From: Edwin Groothuis Message-Id: <200607012239.k61MdG77029746@freefall.freebsd.org> To: edwin@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org, gnome@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/99696: gtk-update-icon-cache is not being run often enough X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 01 Jul 2006 22:39:23 -0000 Synopsis: gtk-update-icon-cache is not being run often enough Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-ports-bugs->gnome Responsible-Changed-By: edwin Responsible-Changed-When: Sat Jul 1 22:39:15 UTC 2006 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=99696 From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jul 1 23:17:10 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: gnome@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CF6B416A51A; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 23:17:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marcus@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [216.136.204.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1E5D644F54; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:57:02 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from marcus@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (marcus@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id k61Mv1MD030251; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:57:01 GMT (envelope-from marcus@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from marcus@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id k61Mv1C3030247; Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:57:01 GMT (envelope-from marcus) Date: Sat, 1 Jul 2006 22:57:01 GMT From: Joe Marcus Clarke Message-Id: <200607012257.k61Mv1C3030247@freefall.freebsd.org> To: nakal@nurfuerspam.de, marcus@FreeBSD.org, gnome@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/99696: gtk-update-icon-cache is not being run often enough X-BeenThere: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 01 Jul 2006 23:17:11 -0000 Synopsis: gtk-update-icon-cache is not being run often enough State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: marcus State-Changed-When: Sat Jul 1 22:55:44 UTC 2006 State-Changed-Why: Any GTK+-based port which installs icons into /usr/X11R6/share/icons or /usr/local/share/icons should add INSTALLS_ICONS to its Makefile, and have a dependency on gtk20.
