Often, this is due to a better alternative having become available and/or the cessation of development on the existing port. In some cases, ports are marked for removal because they fail to build and install correctly from their sources, or otherwise fail in operation. The ports listed in this email are ports that depend on one or more of the ports that are scheduled to be removed, but are not yet themselves on the list. However, once those ports are removed, these ports will then become broken, and thus the reason for this email. Thanks for asking about this. Upon taking a quick look, I don't think there is any particular reason. My guess is that simply noone noticed we weren't building it. This isn't surprising given that it looks to me like its not built on Solaris/Linux/Windows either, its simply extracted from a zip file. It also looks like the source code is also zipped up, which makes it harder to notice its even there. > Second thing: it could be useful to have a knob in all jdk ports to > install the unrestricted security policy files, so that every update > won't replace them. The jar file cannot be built from sources, since must be signed, so I think Sun chose to distribute even the jni shared object in binary form for "supported" platforms. The source distribution doesn't automatically build it, but native binary distributions install it and it's supposed to be in jdk 1.5. I don't know which is the best way to go, but probably the easiest is to create a new port that builds the jni lib and installs it along with the signed jar (I think modifying the jdk15 and diablo ports will be more complex, even if more natural from a user's point of view). >> Second thing: it could be useful to have a knob in all jdk ports to >> install the unrestricted security policy files, so that every update >> won't replace them. > > I'd be happy to review patches :). I think we can add it to jdk15 quite easily, although adding it to diablo is going to have to wait for another update. I'd like to try that first, since I don't think it will be too problematic. I think many people will miss a separate port, so I'd like to keep them all together if possible. I had to revert back to the now long outdated servereclipse editor which is low on features but really fast. Maybe its the wrong list here, but i'd like to try here first than trying to get my way thru the jboss lists/forums labyrinth. So for those of you that have been where i am now, is there any way that i can tell the JBOSS ide editor to relax a little bit, take its time and let me do some editing? -- -Achilleus From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jun 24 04:25:21 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8963A16A47C for ; Sat, 24 Jun 2006 04:25:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from windfall24@adelphia.net) Received: from mta10.adelphia.net (mta10.adelphia.net [68.168.78.202]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E141B43D48 for ; Sat, 24 Jun 2006 04:25:20 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from windfall24@adelphia.net) Received: from D14GJS91 ([69.166.80.127]) by mta10.adelphia.net (InterMail vM.6.01.05.02 201-2131-123-102-20050715) with SMTP id <20060624042519.HMOX8020.mta10.adelphia.net@D14GJS91> for ; Sat, 24 Jun 2006 00:25:19 -0400 Message-ID: <000601c69746$34718e80$6401a8c0@D14GJS91> From: "Jerry" To: Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2006 00:25:20 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2869 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2869 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: hot spot virtual machine detected error-I don't undersstand.
