Often, these ports are so marked due to security concerns, such as known exploits. An overview of the port, including errors seen on the build farm, is included below. portname: java/linux-blackdown-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-blackdown-jdk13 portname: java/linux-ibm-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-ibm-jdk13 If this problem is one that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. I was able to reproduce the crash here. I don't know much about fonts, but I've determined that the Old Town font in that package contains an illegal glyph name (50_pct_gray) according to this document: http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/opentype/index_glyph2.html#4 Still the jvm shouldn't crash on it. A glyph name beginning with underscore is valid, but also not handled with the current jvm code. Perhaps someone who knows more about fonts could add support for underscores. In the meantime, here's a patch for java/jdk15/files to avoid the crash. -Kurt --Boundary_(ID_xl5dLgx86EoRz4LNSP5rcA)-- From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jul 19 06:57:59 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CABED16A4DD for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 06:57:59 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mv@thebeastie.org) Received: from p4.roq.com (ns1.ecoms.com [207.44.130.137]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 25E4043D5A for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 06:57:56 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from mv@thebeastie.org) Received: from p4.roq.com (localhost.roq.com [127.0.0.1]) by p4.roq.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id B2BFA4CD70 for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 06:58:13 +0000 (GMT) Received: from vaulte.jumbuck.com (ppp166-27.static.internode.on.net [150.101.166.27]) by p4.roq.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id EB2D04CDFD for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 06:58:11 +0000 (GMT) Received: from vaulte.jumbuck.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by vaulte.jumbuck.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4F1F18A065 for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 16:57:53 +1000 (EST) Received: from [192.168.46.102] (unknown [192.168.46.250]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by vaulte.jumbuck.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 46F378A01F for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 16:57:53 +1000 (EST) Message-ID: <44BDD7F0.3060406@thebeastie.org> Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 16:57:52 +1000 From: Michael Vince User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD amd64; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20060404 X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="------------050509050309000705070006" X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV using ClamSMTP X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV using ClamSMTP Subject: AMD64 Diablo 1.5 JDK and libthr X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 06:57:59 -0000 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------050509050309000705070006 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi guys, Firstly just like to say its great to see AMD64 1.5 JDK released, thanks for this. I have started doing some testing on Diablo on AMD64 FreeBSD (currently on 6-stable). I decided to enable libthr in the libmap.conf (settings below) so I could see the Javas thread usage via top and see if its any faster, I was testing a servlet on Tomcat 5.5 doing about 5k to 10k gets per minute, I have found it dies quite quickly (about 4 minutes) compared to using the libpthread, which is yet to crash after 1 hour of usage. Has any one had good experiences with libthr on AMD64 1.5 Java? [/usr/local/diablo-jdk1.5.0/] libpthread.so libthr.so libpthread.so.2 libthr.so.2 Its server server 6-STABLE Jun 16 build, with a generic kernel with just FAST_IPSEC compiled into it. I am going to rebuild it to 6-stable now with SMP kernel, then also try on a 6.1-release machine. I have attached its crash log below. It coredumps when the binary is run. To compile the native jdk1.5 I need to able to run the j2sdk1.4.2_12 from s= un=20 since the jdk1.5 port requires java binary to be run. You are advised to use the native =46reeBSD JDK, in ports/java/jdk14. This Java VM will attempt to obtain some system information by accessing files in linux's procfs. You must install the Linux emulation procfs filesystem for this to work correctly. The JVM will exhibit various problems otherwise. This can be accomplished by adding the following line to your /etc/fstab file: linprocfs /compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0 and then, as root, executing the commands: kldload linprocfs mount /compat/linux/proc =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =3D=3D=3D> Extracting for linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 =3D> MD5 Checksum OK for j2sdk-1_4_2_12-linux-i586.bin. =3D=3D=3D> linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 depends on=20 file: /compat/linux/etc/fedora-release - found =3D=3D=3D> Patching for linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 =3D=3D=3D> Configuring for linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 =3D=3D=3D> Installing for linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 =3D=3D=3D> linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 depends on executable: javavm - found =3D=3D=3D> linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 depends on=20 file: /compat/linux/etc/fedora-release - found =3D=3D=3D> linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 depends on=20 file: /compat/linux/usr/X11R6/lib/libXrender.so.1 - found =3D=3D=3D> Generating temporary packing list =3D=3D=3D> Checking if java/linux-sun-jdk14 already installed pkg_info: package bsdpan-Apache-Htpasswd-1.5.7 has no origin recorded pkg_info: package bsdpan-CPAN-1.70 has no origin recorded pkg_info: package bsdpan-Term-ReadLine-Perl-1.0203 has no origin recorded pkg_info: package bsdpan-TermReadKey-2.21 has no origin recorded pkg_info: package bsdpan-libnet-1.13 has no origin recorded /bin/mkdir -p /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2 cd /var/usr/ports/java/linux-sun-jdk14/work/j2sdk1.4.2_12=20 && /usr/bin/find . -print | /usr/bin/cpio -pdmu -R=20 root:wheel /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2 127610 blocks for i in lib/tools.jar jre/lib/rt.jar jre/lib/jsse.jar jre/lib/charsets.jar= =20 jre/lib/ext/localedata.jar jre/lib/plugin.jar jre/javaws/javaws.jar; do if= =20 [ -f /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/`dirname $i`/`basename $i .jar`.pack ];= =20 then /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/lib/unpack /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.= 2/`dirname=20 $i`/`basename=20 $i .jar`.pack /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/$i; /bin/rm -f /usr/local/linu= x-sun-jdk1.4.2/`dirname=20 $i`/`basename $i .jar`.pack; fi done /usr/local/bin/registervm "/usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/bin/java #=20 Linux-Sun-JDK1.4.2.12" /usr/bin/sed -e "s:%%JRE_HOME%%:/usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre:g" =20 < /var/usr/ports/java/linux-sun-jdk14/files/pkg-install.in=20 > /var/usr/ports/java/linux-sun-jdk14/work/pkg-install /usr/bin/env=20 PKG_PREFIX=3D/usr/local /bin/sh /var/usr/ports/java/linux-sun-jdk14/work/pk= g-install=20 linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 POST-INSTALL =3D=3D=3D> Registering installation for linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.12 =3D=3D=3D> SECURITY REPORT: This port has installed the following files which may act as network servers and may therefore pose a remote security risk to the system. /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/javaws/javawsbin (USES POSSIBLY INSECURE= =20 =46UNCTIONS: tempnam) /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/libnet.so /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/libdt_socket.so /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/libnio.so /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/native_threads/libhpi.so If there are vulnerabilities in these programs there may be a security risk to the system. I`ve downgraded the version to linux-sun-jdk1.4.2.11 and it works fine now. java version "1.4.2_11" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_11-b06) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_11-b06, mixed mode) I`ll submit a bug report about this if it isn`t submitted already. If you're part of the latter group, please speak up. -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com Information Technology FreeBSD : glewis@FreeBSD.org From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jul 19 18:59:14 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B733E16A4DD for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 18:59:14 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from m.seaman@infracaninophile.co.uk) Received: from smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk (ns0.infracaninophile.co.uk [81.187.76.162]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C4A6543D45 for ; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 18:59:12 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from m.seaman@infracaninophile.co.uk) Received: from [IPv6:::1] (localhost [IPv6:::1]) by smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk (8.13.6/8.13.6) with ESMTP id k6JIvrLa099904; Wed, 19 Jul 2006 19:57:53 +0100 (BST) (envelope-from m.seaman@infracaninophile.co.uk) Authentication-Results: smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk from=m.seaman@infracaninophile.co.uk; sender-id=softfail; spf=softfail X-SenderID: Sendmail Sender-ID Filter v0.2.13 smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk k6JIvrLa099904 Message-ID: <44BE80AB.6070209@infracaninophile.co.uk> Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 19:57:47 +0100 From: Matthew Seaman Organization: Infracaninophile User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 (X11/20060610) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Greg Lewis References: <200607191216.k6JCG4GZ048285@freefall.freebsd.org> <20060719181450.GA35570@misty.eyesbeyond.com> In-Reply-To: <20060719181450.GA35570@misty.eyesbeyond.com> X-Enigmail-Version: 0.94.0.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-ripemd160; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="------------enigC51A4B2841E627D47D72C340" X-Greylist: Sender IP whitelisted, not delayed by milter-greylist-2.0.2 (smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk [IPv6:::1]); Wed, 19 Jul 2006 19:58:13 +0100 (BST) X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.88.3/1609/Wed Jul 19 13:13:27 2006 on happy-idiot-talk.infracaninophile.co.uk X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.6 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_00,NO_RELAYS autolearn=ham version=3.1.3 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.3 (2006-06-01) on happy-idiot-talk.infracaninophile.co.uk Cc: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ports/100529: linux-sun-jdk1.4.2_12 coredumps on FreeBSD 4.x X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 18:59:14 -0000 This is an OpenPGP/MIME signed message (RFC 2440 and 3156) --------------enigC51A4B2841E627D47D72C340 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-15 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Greg Lewis wrote: > On Wed, Jul 19, 2006 at 12:16:04PM +0000, Edwin Groothuis wrote: >> Synopsis: linux-sun-jdk1.4.2_12 coredumps on FreeBSD 4.x >=20 > The two options are: >=20 > 1. Well, maybe the maintainer for Eclipse 3.1 has switched to Linux himself ;-) Seriously, Eclipse 3.2 will be available when one of us does the porting effort. BTW there is a PR in Gnats about SWT 3.2, maybe it is needed to run Eclipse 3.2. Unfortunately, I can no longer spare my (severely limited) free time for such an effort, so it will have to be done by somebody else. FWIW, I was planning to start the porting effort by reusing whatever I could from the swt32 patches and the eclipse 3.1.2 ones. SWT has changed from 3.2M4, but they should be useful, nevertheless.
