Actually, I tried it with tidy's utf-8 command line option but I got question marks instead of the á é etc. entities. I can't use tidy at all, no matter which one I choose. Do you think utf-8 has still advantages even if I can use each necessary character with iso-8859-2? If it's reasonable I will use utf-8 but I CC'd the related lists for further discussion. Thumbnails are here: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_thumbnail.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/FreeBSD-CDROM-Label_thumbnail.png (149K resp. 53K) High resolution images are here: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/FreeBSD-CDROM-Label.png (777K resp. 198K) The SVG-"source" is here: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/FreeBSD_CD-Artwork.tar.gz (304K, made with Inkscape 0.43 under Ubuntu-GNU/Linux 6.06) I also announced it at the freebsd-advocacy mailing list. LEGAL: The logo and the logo-font are (of course) by Anton Gural. The text is stolen from the FreeBSD-website. The remaining artwork is by me. I hereby donate my part of the artwork to the FreeBSD project, so you may use and distribute it under any license you may choose, e.g. under the BSD-license (you may even place it in the Public Domain). It would be nice if you would give me some credit, but that's not required. I would be pleased if the material could be placed at http://www.freebsd.org/art.html Perhaps you should consider putting a link from the downloads section to that place, so that anybody who downloads an ISO image can easily obtain a CDROM-sleeve and label. Just an idea. Since I received positive feedback, here are some improvements: I created seperate CDROM-sleeves and CDROM-labels for some of the architectures, and made seperate labels for Disc 1 and Disc 2 (but they share the same sleeve). Here are small previews (thumbnails) at 75dpi: http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_generic_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_alpha_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_alpha_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_amd64_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_amd64_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_i386_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_i386_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ia64_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ia64_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ppc_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ppc_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_sparc64_1of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_sparc64_2of2_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_generic_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_alpha_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_amd64_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_i386_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_ia64_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_ppc_thumb.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_sparc64_thumb.png Here are the high-resolution versions (at 300dpi): http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_generic.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_alpha_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_alpha_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_amd64_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_amd64_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_i386_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_i386_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ia64_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ia64_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ppc_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_ppc_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_sparc64_1of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Label_FreeBSD_sparc64_2of2.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_generic.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_alpha.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_amd64.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_i386.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_ia64.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_ppc.png http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/CDROM-Sleeve_FreeBSD_sparc64.png Here is the SVG "source": http://www.wolldingwacht.de/foss/freebsd/FreeBSD-CDROM-labels+covers_svg.tar.gz LEGAL: The logo and the logo-font are (of course) by Anton Gural. The text is stolen from the FreeBSD-website. The remaining artwork is by me. I hereby donate my part of the artwork to the FreeBSD project, so you may use and distribute it under any license you may choose, e.g. under the BSD-license (you may even place it in the Public Domain). Unless the FreeBSD project chooses some other license, the FreeBSD license (http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html) applies. It would be nice if you give me some credit, but that's not legaly required. Feedback and suggestions are welcome. I would be pleased if these material could be placed at the website (e.g. http://www.freebsd.org/art.html). I would suggest putting a link to the artwork page in the downloads section, so that everyone who downloads an ISO-image can easily obtain the label+sleeve. If you notice http://www.freebsd.org/logo.html for the images where same thing is done: NOTE: "freeBSD" text in these images were created based on draft version of logo contest. Correct version of this text should be rendered by one black color, not two colors and first "f" character should be spelled capitalized as "F Any chance you could fix that? Other than that I think it would be great to have these images on the FreeBSD web site. -- Simon L. Nielsen
