Have you tried a 6.2 SMP kernel? I imagine that is going to work fine. You have way too many variables here. The USB breakage could be due to SMP vs UP (I doubt it) or due to 6.2 vs 7.0 (more likely). > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org > [mailto:owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of John Baldwin > Sent: 20 February 2007 16:47 > To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org > Cc: Thomas Sparrevohn; freebsd-usb@freebsd.org > Subject: Re: USB fails to attach in the SMP version of GENERIC with Nforce > 590 > > On Saturday 17 February 2007 16:34, Thomas Sparrevohn wrote: > > HI > > Its a bit of a weird problem - If I boot the 6.2 RELEASE UP kernel - > > all USB devices works fine > > however it I boot with the most recent (cvsup today) - It fails > > attaching the root device. > > The only major difference are that the 6.2-RELEASE looks like its a > > UP kernel or at least > > it never starts the 3 other cores > > Well, you cvsupp'ed current (7.0) not 6.x-stable, was that on purpose? > It does look like the uhub(4) driver is what is keeling over. > -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Feb 21 14:27:46 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 151FF16E3B8 for ; Wed, 21 Feb 2007 14:27:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vasim@resume-bank.ru) Received: from wolf.resume-bank.ru (mail.resume-bank.ru [62.118.250.39]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 44C5413C4A8 for ; Wed, 21 Feb 2007 14:27:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vasim@resume-bank.ru) Received: (qmail 44697 invoked by uid 0); 21 Feb 2007 14:03:03 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO vasimwork) (213.184.130.206) by mail.resume-bank.ru with SMTP; 21 Feb 2007 14:03:03 -0000 Message-ID: <03bc01c755c0$c241ea50$300a000a@vasimwork> From: "Vasim Valejev" To: Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 17:01:18 +0300 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="koi8-r" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1807 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1896 Subject: Watchdog driver for winbond 83627H/HF X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2007 14:27:46 -0000 Hi ! Many opteron server boards has chip winbond 83627 with integrated watchdog timer in it (i have this chip on my Tyan S2882S and Supermicro H8DCE). Unfortunally, there is no driver for this watchdog in the FreeBSD. So, i've changed linux driver to work as FreeBSD kernel module (tested under 5.5-stable and 7.0-current). Timeout is fixed, 120 seconds. Since it works via watchdog facility in the FreeBSD (man 9 watchdog), it requires 'options SW_WATCHDOG' in kernel's config. Its sources: http://job-svalka.ru/images/temp/w83627wd.tgz To install - 'make; make install'. Load it with 'kldload w83627wd' command and run watchdogd. To disable - 'watchdog -t 0'. I'm not sure if all motherboard suppliers makes required wiring from watchdog output to reset, so it may not work on some motherboards even if there is that chip installed. Vasim V. I think it's a firmware bug. Here's how to use an IDE CD-ROM: There's a small IDE jumper cable between the main board and the backplane for where the CD drive is, had you ordered one, that you can use. The X2100 has no molex power connectors in the interior, though, so you have to get power for somewhere else. I used another machine next to the server. It's a horrible ugly hack, but you need only do it once. -Nathan From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Feb 24 11:05:33 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A8DE916A400; Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:05:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from des@des.no) Received: from tim.des.no (tim.des.no [194.63.250.121]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6883313C481; Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:05:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from des@des.no) Received: from tim.des.no (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by spam.des.no (Postfix) with ESMTP id 77197207E; Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:46:31 +0100 (CET) X-Spam-Tests: AWL X-Spam-Learn: disabled X-Spam-Score: 0.0/3.0 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.7 (2006-10-05) on tim.des.no Received: from dwp.des.no (des.no [80.203.243.180]) by tim.des.no (Postfix) with ESMTP id F0EDC2049; Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:46:30 +0100 (CET) Received: by dwp.des.no (Postfix, from userid 1001) id CD0A9B872; Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:47:03 +0100 (CET) From: des@des.no (Dag-Erling =?iso-8859-1?Q?Sm=F8rgrav?=) To: John Baldwin References: <86wt29qd3o.fsf@dwp.des.no> <200702231058.12307.jhb@freebsd.org> Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:47:03 +0100 In-Reply-To: <200702231058.12307.jhb@freebsd.org> (John Baldwin's message of "Fri, 23 Feb 2007 10:58:11 -0500") Message-ID: <86abz3j0ig.fsf@dwp.des.no> User-Agent: Gnus/5.110006 (No Gnus v0.6) Emacs/21.3 (berkeley-unix) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Cc: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Subject: Re: 6.2-RELEASE on Sun Fire X2100 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2007 11:05:33 -0000 John Baldwin writes: > BTX fault or a kernel crash?
