The winner is... D-Link. Its latest series of cheap VPN routers, ADSL gateways and access points verify passwords with javascript. The passwords are stored in clear text. Granted, this only happens when you try to change current password, but that doesn't mean it's not one of the dumbest security breaches. I have this gaping hole in my DSL-2640, and I'm sure they won't fix it any time soon... It's basically a system image reload but without a "hidden" restore partition on the hard drive. Makes it an pain in the ass to reload Windows with a base configuration, since some of the software they add is broken and some lack uninstallers. If that wasn't bad enough, there's no "universal" reload media, each configuration (even if it's the same model!) has a different system image. Did I mention I hate supporting Toshiba notebooks? Ulf: Call Toshiba at 800-457-7777 with your model and serial numbers and they'll send you replacement media for US$35. -- Darren Pilgrim From owner-freebsd-chat@FreeBSD.ORG Tue May 29 20:02:51 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CF71616A421 for ; Tue, 29 May 2007 20:02:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from reed@reedmedia.net) Received: from ca.pugetsoundtechnology.com (ca.pugetsoundtechnology.com [38.99.2.247]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BF2AF13C457 for ; Tue, 29 May 2007 20:02:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from reed@reedmedia.net) Received: from pool-71-123-204-253.dllstx.fios.verizon.net ([71.123.204.253] helo=reedmedia.net) by ca.pugetsoundtechnology.com with esmtpa (Exim 4.54) id 1Ht7PF-000435-RY for freebsd-chat@freebsd.org; Tue, 29 May 2007 12:30:58 -0700 Received: from reed@reedmedia.net by reedmedia.net with local (mailout 0.17) id 29693-1180467054; Tue, 29 May 2007 14:30:55 -0500 Date: Tue, 29 May 2007 14:30:54 -0500 (CDT) From: "Jeremy C. It is a lot more imaginative. Oh, no! We haven't done a vertical one :( If we can sell out some of these though, we can get a vertical. FreeBSD Mall does silk screen (not digital print like @ cafepress), so while the quality is higher, it's much more expensive to test ideas out. Digital print allows for on demand while silk screen requires the orders to be placed up front and the shirts stocked in the warehouse. Once these other designs start selling, we'll open it up for suggestions for further t-shirts :D We've got some neat posters coming, too! -matt > > Thanks, > Daniel > > Matt Olander wrote: >> On Thursday 24 May 2007 11:30 am, Kávássy Dániel wrote: >> >>> Hi, >>> >>> First time I posted to the wrong list, sorry. >>> >>> I've seen FreeBSD t-shirts (probably drafts) with >>> the new logo: http://logo-contest.freebsd.org/result/640-1.png >>> >>> If there were any, I'd happily buy one. >>> >> >> Hi Daniel! >> >> Check out www.freebsdmall.com.
