These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Today I'm reading the 4.3 Reno page diff3(1), from http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=diff3&apropos=0&sektion=1&manpath=4.3BSD+Reno&format=html . It has a problem I've seen in some other pages (but not reported before): some small bits of text are missing. For instance, the second paragraph of DESCRIPTION begins like this: Options are: Produces output in a form suitable as an input script for the ed(1) utility. Which option does that describe? It doesn't say. Another example is in the FILES section: FILES temporary files. the executable. I think that section should include /tmp/XXX and /usr/bin/diff3, or something. >How-To-Repeat: Open the manual page I mentioned in Firefox 2.0.0.3, or probably in other browsers too. >Fix: I'm guessing that there's a macro call which isn't being read or handled by the man-to-html converter. It has a problem I've seen in some other pages (but not reported before): some small bits of text are missing. For instance, the second paragraph of DESCRIPTION begins like this: Options are: Produces output in a form suitable as an input script for the ed(1) utility. Which option does that describe? I've installed a new ide hd in a box, running 6.2 and am trying to slice it not dedicated, using section 18.3.2.1. I can get the dd going, but the fdisk reveals that geom is not found and it does not proceed. Is there a new something i have to do? If this matters i'm using encrypted swap with geli. Thanks. Dave. It explicitly says CD-ROM > should be used: > > http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/fdp-primer/writing-style-word-list.html > Commit log from the Revision 1.43 (the one responsible of the addition of this spelling): --- Change CDROM to CD-ROM in the word list, since the later seems to be most widely used. This is not really a change of policy, just documenting the current de facto policy. Quoting blackend (but don't blame this commit on him): CD-ROM seems to be the more widely used spelling, most of new additions use CD-ROM, "legacy" docs use CDROM. Since CD-ROM may be seen as the right solution, let's keep the old spelling for the moment and just use CD-ROM in every new additions. Semi-intresting google statistics: 9,950,000 hits for CDROM, 28,800,000 hits for "CD-ROM". --- This confirm what other persons suggested to you in the PR follow-ups. -- Marc
