This section describes "union u" from struct >mouse_info. While it may be technically correctly formatted, it certainly looks confusing to the casual user. The the union had been more sensibly named, it would not be a problem, but for a single letter name like 'u', I'd propos quoting it, to make it clear that it is the actual and entire name. -- Poul-Henning Kamp | UNIX since Zilog Zeus 3.20 phk@FreeBSD.ORG | TCP/IP since RFC 956 FreeBSD committer | BSD since 4.3-tahoe Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. I saw many articles on different aspects of FreeBSD but none on what I needed. I'm in the process of writing my own newbie setup including base install, kernel configuration, wireless setup, basic must have programs and how to install, cvsup, etc. I know everything is in the handbook, I have re-read it many times. The thing is I want a new user to be able to look at this newbie doc and follow lego style instructions to get a system up in no time. :) I want it to be short and simple. If they want in-depth they can look at the handbook. What I am trying to do is make it easier for people to install and setup this OS so they don't get frustrated and quit, like I had done in the past. Please email me back asap if you are interested in reviewing and possibly posting my newbie guide. -Kurt From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Nov 10 16:50:02 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 00F6416A417 for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CEF2913C491 for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1) with ESMTP id lAAGo1xX015123 for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1/Submit) id lAAGo14Z015122; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:01 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <200711101650.lAAGo14Z015122@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, João Rocha Braga Filho Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4724116A419 for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:44:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::21]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 17D8913C4AC for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:44:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1) with ESMTP id lAAGiDdj042487 for ; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:44:13 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.1/8.14.1/Submit) id lAAGiCGS042486; Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:44:12 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <200711101644.lAAGiCGS042486@www.freebsd.org> Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:44:12 GMT From: João Rocha Braga Filho To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-3.1 Cc: Subject: docs/117961: A sugestion to search a port X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 16:50:02 -0000 >Number: 117961 >Category: docs >Synopsis: A sugestion to search a port >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-doc >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: change-request >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Sat Nov 10 16:50:01 UTC 2007 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: João Rocha Braga Filho >Release: >Organization: Patary.com >Environment: >Description: Another way to find a port, and I use it a lot. echo /usr/ports/*/*lsof* You can add this suggestion to: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-finding-applications.html "4.3 Finding Your Application" It is a simple, fast (almost) way to find a port.
