The original bounty is detailed here: http://www.rsync.net/resources/notices/2007cb.html Orlando has expressed a need for an x86-64 machine, loaded with FreeBSD 6.2, and available on a fixed IP for testing. If you have such a system and can donate the use of it for a few weeks, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact rsync.net at: info@rsync.net We are very happy to announce this and hope that the update of vmware will make FreeBSD a more viable desktop and workstation operating system for many years to come. I have a couple that aren't being used at the moment and could set one up running 6.2 easily. My only problem is that I'm going to be away from 6/13->6/27 or so and won't be able to physically touch the machine during that period. If it needs to be poked, prodded, kicked, or stroked, we'll be out of luck. It'll also be running in my basement and my outbound bandwidth isn't huge. I'm in Oakland, CA, and if you have offices in the Bay area I'd be happy to drop a machine off for you to use for a bit. Alternatively, maybe someone else on freebsd-emulation in the Bay area would be willing to host it for a bit. If it sounds like my machine would be helpful, let me know. g. I have static numbers on a 6000/768 DSL. Not sure that's enough but i'd be willing to host it if it would help. I'm a little strapped for time so if you could setup the OS that would help me. I'll be out 9/14-16 but otherwise available. If needed, i have an 8channel remote switch that i use for kicking the DSL modem that i could setup for poking this box, too. > I'm in Oakland, CA, and if you have offices in the Bay area I'd be > happy to drop a machine off for you to use for a bit. If cstrike/sound/weapons is moved (ex. renamed) the server loads fine. I've done an RTFS and seen that linux_getdents and linux_getdents64 use different data structures. Linux_base-fc4 uses linux_getdents64 here and succeeds while linux_base-fc6 quite the opposite. The directory cstrike/sound/weapons is the largest (165 files), other directories are way smaller. Seems that linux_getdents() get something like buffer overflow or else. BTW, why does linux_base-fc6 uses linux_getdents everywhere while linux_base-fc4 uses linux_getdents64? Thanks, I've just tried it on 7-CURRENT under VMWare Server on Windows. Here's what I see: - No kernel modules at all for FreeBSD - The VMWare console displays a message "Your version of VMWare tools is out of date" - The "vmware-user" client program for X11 (enabling "intelligent" mouse focus and copy/paste to/from the VM) works. Don't know how to copy files to/from the machine (or whether this works at all) - The "toolbox" client program works partially: time sync works, the devices tab doesn't show virtual SCSI devices, scripts don't seem to work, "shrinking" doesn't work So far, the tools don't seem very useful. The VM without kernel modules is as slow as ever. --------------enigD142536129EA8C6358FDB11B Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFG7DcSldnAQVacBcgRAhlbAJ9iwpwN5jPKgVoK23nTstPcfUWZMgCg6Qdl IVAqb2ZMRaBfkqcJjJukxPk= =mxNm -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enigD142536129EA8C6358FDB11B--
