I saw that the patch "MPEG2-TS/HDV support for fwcontrol" had been commited to 6.2-STABLE so I updated from RELEASE to try it out. This is what I get when I try to receive a stream with fwcontrol: %fwcontrol -R test.m2t Detected DV format on input. (EAGAIN) - push 'Play'? (EAGAIN) - push 'Play'? (EAGAIN) - push 'Play'? (EAGAIN) - push 'Play'? ... It doesn't seem to detect that a MPEG stream is playing on the firewire interface. I even tryed forcing it with the "-M mpeg" switch without luck. Is there something I'm doing wrong or perhaps this functionality hasn't been implemented yet? Any hints or tips would be appreciated. Link with my dmesg & fwcontrol info: http://alimazandar.pastebin.com/891941 Thank you, Ali From owner-freebsd-firewire@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 2 14:44:44 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-firewire@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-firewire@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 65D8416A404 for ; Fri, 2 Mar 2007 14:44:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from anderson@freebsd.org) Received: from mh1.centtech.com (moat3.centtech.com [64.129.166.50]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2420A13C4A3 for ; Fri, 2 Mar 2007 14:44:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from anderson@freebsd.org) Received: from [10.177.171.220] (neutrino.centtech.com [10.177.171.220]) by mh1.centtech.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id l22EFlZO013222; Fri, 2 Mar 2007 08:15:47 -0600 (CST) (envelope-from anderson@freebsd.org) Message-ID: <45E83193.6020605@freebsd.org> Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2007 08:15:47 -0600 From: Eric Anderson User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 (X11/20070204) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Ali Mazandar References: <372c48630703012158l223643e7y66af9dd77b9a8a6@mail.gmail.com> In-Reply-To: <372c48630703012158l223643e7y66af9dd77b9a8a6@mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV 0.88.4/2697/Fri Mar 2 06:02:13 2007 on mh1.centtech.com X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.6 required=8.0 tests=BAYES_00 autolearn=ham version=3.1.6 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.6 (2006-10-03) on mh1.centtech.com Cc: freebsd-firewire@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Capturing MPEG2-TS from a Motorola DVR X-BeenThere: freebsd-firewire@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Firewire support in FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 02 Mar 2007 14:44:44 -0000 On 03/01/07 23:58, Ali Mazandar wrote: > Hi all, > > I have a Motorola DCT-6412 Digital Video Recorder that I'm trying to > capture the MPEG2 stream from the firewire interface. I have a Canon HV10, and another camera, and both do not work at all in FreeBSD. I think firewire for DV in FreeBSD is broken, and the maintainer is off doing other things now. I don't know anything about firewire to even find out what's wrong. Maybe there's a hacker out there that would like to own firewire? Eric
