Now I can boot from ICH9R using AHCI. But before submitting a patch, I'd like to know what ID 2921 might be. Description: Desktop Non-AHCI and Non-RAID Mode (Ports 0 and 1). WIll it ever be used? Raid Mode on ICH9 is the same ID as raid mode on ICH8 (2822)? I have an Asus M2NPV-VM board using the nfe driver from http://www.f.csce.kyushu-u.ac.jp/~shigeaki/software/freebsd-nfe.html Traffic is moderate (approx 7Mbps) and every couple of days, the nfe device just stops talking to the outside world. I do see one type of error in the logs: Jul 12 10:08:33 cwpro1 kernel: nfe0: watchdog timeout (missed Tx interrupts) -- recovering Jul 12 10:09:04 cwpro1 kernel: nfe0: watchdog timeout (missed Tx interrupts) -- recovering The solution? Plug in a keyboard (PS2). As soon as ukbd is probed, up fires the ethernet device and we're talking again. So, any ideas? This box is in production so debugging time/possbilities are limited. -- Tony Holmes Ph: (416) 993-1219 Founder and Senior Systems Architect Crosswinds Internet Communications Inc. Maybe the keyboard generates a missing interrupt for the NFE controller. Are you using 7-current ? I have a box and the built in nfe0 adapter does not work very well, unless I use 7-current! --HPS From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jul 12 20:08:55 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 581C316A421 for ; Thu, 12 Jul 2007 20:08:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tony@crosswinds.net) Received: from out-mx1.crosswinds.net (out-mx1.crosswinds.net [216.18.117.38]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1D85E13C4F0 for ; Thu, 12 Jul 2007 20:08:52 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tony@crosswinds.net) Received: from admin.crosswinds.net (out-mx1.crosswinds.net [216.18.117.38]) by out-mx1.crosswinds.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 67F8A2BD53; Thu, 12 Jul 2007 16:09:13 -0400 (EDT) Received: by admin.crosswinds.net (Postfix, from userid 1001) id 54CB7403D; Thu, 12 Jul 2007 16:09:13 -0400 (EDT) Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2007 16:09:13 -0400 From: Tony Holmes To: Hans Petter Selasky Message-ID: <20070712200913.GA26763@crosswinds.net> References: <20070712174409.GA18457@crosswinds.net> <200707122014.59844.hselasky@c2i.net> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <200707122014.59844.hselasky@c2i.net> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4.2.1i Cc: tony@crosswind.snet, freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Subject: Re: keyboard + if_nfe oddity X-BeenThere: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: General discussion of FreeBSD hardware List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2007 20:08:55 -0000 > Maybe the keyboard generates a missing interrupt for the NFE controller. > > Are you using 7-current ? > > I have a box and the built in nfe0 adapter does not work very well, unless I > use 7-current! Sorry I fired off the email before I typed in - I'm using 6.2-Stable. I'm tied to 6.2-Stable unfortunately. -- Tony Holmes Ph: (416) 993-1219 Founder and Senior Systems Architect Crosswinds Internet Communications Inc.
