I stopped the updates on ftp-master.us and am doing a "cleanup sync" of the FTP site data from one partition to a (larger...) partition. For reasons outside my control, the space I have for the mirror is just over 400GB. The cvsup mirror bit is small, but as you all know, FreeBSD-archive with a release tag of 'all' is a wee bit more than 400GB for the ftp mirror. So to start, I was thinking about carrying just i386 and amd64 bits (ISO's and packages, install media for all platforms) for now, until I can get more space on the box. I searched Google and failed to find out if there were other tags for FreeBSD-archive other than "all" that are perhaps platform specific? How do other mirrors pare down their offerings from 'all'? I am hoping this condition won't last until the beginning of next year at the latest, but one has to make do with what he/she has for now. :) BTW - can 5.4 ISO's in general be moved to freebsd-archive (as well as 4.11/alpha?) Thanks for your advice in advance. IMHO, it's time for all the above to go. If you look at http://portsmon.freebsd.org/portsuploadstatus.py, you'll see a survey of what packages the ftp*.freebsd.org sites are currently storing. (NB: ftp1.freebsd.org and ftp12.freebsd.org arbitrarily limit the number of results returned, which confuses my algorithm). "green" means "has the same stuff as ftp4" (I had to choose one site as canonical). (This survey doesn't count the 'release' packages.) A few sites are behind, but I don't know how to contact them. The sparc64-5 bits are sufficiently rotten as to not be worth mirroring (again IMHO). We don't have enough horsepower to keep 2 sparc64 trees timely. A sparc64-7 build is currently in progress. We have the horsepower to keep amd64[567] and i386[567] up-to-date ATM. In general I'm trying to keep on ftp-master the FTP install bits and package set for the most recent release on a branch that's still under support plus the ISO files for any of the releases still being maintained by the security team. I usually forget to check what releases the security team is currently supporting until someone(TM) reminds me to check. I removed the 5.4 and 6.0 ISOs as a result of checking now. The 6.1 FTP install bits and packages are also now gone as warned yesterday, but the 6.1 ISO's remain. Can you point me at the exact pathname you're seeing something for 4.11/alpha please? I don't see anything related to that on ftp-master. --=20 Ken Smith - From there to here, from here to | kensmith@cse.buffalo.edu there, funny things are everywhere. | - Theodore Geisel | --=-xsD0hy42j400nes7koJn Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBHGMRi/G14VSmup/YRAgh1AJ9v5I99xVuIAbwWZGDHrw9LCfL7WACeNvzv HemB9WqU58aRnY7pbm1K+G4= =dnWG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-xsD0hy42j400nes7koJn-- From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 19 14:58:30 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9D0CC16A418 for ; Fri, 19 Oct 2007 14:58:30 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dimitar.vassilev@gmail.com) Received: from nf-out-0910.google.com (nf-out-0910.google.com [64.233.182.190]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 81FF913C47E for ; Fri, 19 Oct 2007 14:58:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dimitar.vassilev@gmail.com) Received: by nf-out-0910.google.com with SMTP id b2so451203nfb for ; Fri, 19 Oct 2007 07:58:28 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:references; bh=PvlunzOYKEkqSF7t9Ou70S4ZWH1jO+iX8KOfXjU7gN4=; b=O7wXJ8noaDVlEKl8b8fh4bgnkpzTUkj9FoI+SWAArRW/6PJft+9gIF6I4W/Bj9fMmDWeNmuV5e9s89uyETrvoFHt/X0B+Zc1v6s8p7rSRwgOkoxG7bmR8hvCCrJMpnfNvet/JoKpnIf2XFmIT/H8k5S5ysvsCs3B0Bmbhu2B3Lc= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:references; b=O4LsM99FTjr653mmlWsDJrDt03kGc2FA+w4UfTeJ81FrufUHaCsw0P7WI3OpF/Mk1afvTmssA+eYNeciJvOAsG5sffVFxziZObxDJRe/RY9ubaMguAF995OjATpxWfQrNv+/LMTc0UbWUdJ+u3GER/xAP00eAgIebMpZX8PjriM= Received: by 10.82.183.19 with SMTP id g19mr3802579buf.1192805907811; Fri, 19 Oct 2007 07:58:27 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.82.191.9 with HTTP; Fri, 19 Oct 2007 07:58:27 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <59adc1a0710190758g65c1f2f6ufed478d07906e1de@mail.gmail.com> Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2007 17:58:27 +0300 From: "Dimitar Vasilev" To: "Ken Smith" In-Reply-To: <1192758116.60553.18.camel@neo.cse.buffalo.edu> MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <1192758116.60553.18.camel@neo.cse.buffalo.edu> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: inline X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Subject: Re: 6.1-REL bits being removed...
