This "watchdog timeout" symptom seems to be popular, but I've tried changing NIC cards, changing motherboards (another instance of the same type), changing PCI slots, changing BIOS PnP setting, etc ... None of these remedies work. But 5.5-RELEASE sure does! By the way, an AirLink101 Gb Ethernet card also does not work in 6.2-RELEASE but also works like a charm in 5.5-RELEASE. It sure does seem like something is very fishy in 6.2-RELEASE. >How-To-Repeat: Use the same hardware configuration. Login from the limited account which uses 'sh' as default shell 4. Do 'cd offlimit' 5. Now check 'pwd' (this will probably call sh's built in pwd)... pwd will wrongfully show that you have successfully chdir'ed. 6. To make this problem look worse, try to 'cd offlimit' again. 7. Your 'pwd' will no doubt look like /usr/home/limiteduser/offlimit/offlimit 8.
