Just glancing at the specs I would say you can expect everything except the builtin wireless, media adapter, and the expresscard to work. The bluetooth and builtin ethernet might not work, but without looking up the chipsets I can't say for sure. > > - Chad Hanamaikai > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-mobile-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" > From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Sep 26 09:11:37 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BB8B016A417 for ; Wed, 26 Sep 2007 09:11:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from koenig@informatik.uni-jena.de) Received: from mailsmtp1.rz.uni-jena.de (smtp.uni-jena.de [141.35.1.18]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7040D13C455 for ; Wed, 26 Sep 2007 09:11:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from koenig@informatik.uni-jena.de) Received: from [192.168.2.13] (chello080108047121.34.11.vie.surfer.at [80.108.47.121]) (authenticated id=m6kobi2 bits=0) by mailsmtp1.rz.uni-jena.de (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id l8Q8BRkD012013 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Wed, 26 Sep 2007 10:11:28 +0200 Message-ID: <46FA1430.8020509@informatik.uni-jena.de> Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 10:11:28 +0200 From: =?ISO-8859-15?Q?Birgitta_K=F6nig-Ries?= User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (Windows/20070728) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Verborgene_Empfaenger:; Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-15; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Mailman-Approved-At: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 12:54:26 +0000 Subject: Call for Participation: European Conf. on Web Services ECOWS 2007 X-BeenThere: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Mobile computing with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 09:11:37 -0000 [Apologies for multiple copies] *** Apologies for multiple copies! *** Call for Participation Fifth IEEE European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS 2007) http://www.ecows2007.uni-halle.de Halle (Saale), Germany November 26-28, 2007 ATTENTION: Registration is now open Conference Fees: IEEE Member EUR 300 (EUR 360 after October 15) Academics EUR 350 (EUR 420 after October 15) Student (IEEE Member) EUR 200 (EUR 240 after October 15) Student (Non-Members) EUR 250 (EUR 300 after October 15) Other EUR 400 (EUR 480 after October 15) For registration visit our Web Page http://www.ecows2007.uni-halle.de The IEEE European Conference on Web Services (ECOWS) is the premier conference for both researchers and practitioners to exchange the latest advances in the state of the art and practices of Web Services. The main objectives of this conference are to facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners and to foster future collaborations in Europe and beyond. In addition to the main conference, a seminar on "Buildung Service-Oriented Architectures with Web Services" and the second edition of the Workshop on Emerging Web Services Technology will take place. The success encountered by the Web has shown that tightly coupled software systems are only good for niche markets, whereas loosely coupled software systems can be more flexible, more adaptive and often more appropriate in practice. Loose coupling makes it easier for a given system to interact with other systems, possibly legacy systems that share very little with it. Web services are at the crossing of distributed computing and loosely coupled systems. When applications adopt service-oriented architectures, they can evolve during their lifespan more easily and adapt better to changing or unpredictable environments. When properly implemented, services can be discovered and invoked dynamically using non-proprietary mechanisms, while each service can still be implemented in a black-box manner. This is important from a business perspective since customers no longer need to "choose their side". Each service can be implemented using any technology, independently from the others. What matters is that everybody agrees on the integration technology, and there is a consensus about this in today's middleware market: customers want to use Web technologies. Despite these promises, however, service integrators, developers, and providers need to create methods, tools and techniques to support cost-effective development and the use of dependable services and service-oriented applications. -- Birgitta König-Ries Heinz-Nixdorf-Stiftungsprofessur für Praktische Informatik Institut für Informatik Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena hnsp.inf-bb.uni-jena.de koenig@informatik.uni-jena.de From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Sep 27 15:56:07 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 90AA816A418; Thu, 27 Sep 2007 15:56:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from avg@icyb.net.ua) Received: from falcon.cybervisiontech.com (falcon.cybervisiontech.com [217.20.163.9]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0914E13C458; Thu, 27 Sep 2007 15:56:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from avg@icyb.net.ua) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by falcon.cybervisiontech.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 70CED43DAC0; Thu, 27 Sep 2007 18:37:50 +0300 (EEST) X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavisd-new at falcon.cybervisiontech.com Received: from falcon.cybervisiontech.com ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (falcon.cybervisiontech.com [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id ZX8a7tqBz1pJ; Thu, 27 Sep 2007 18:37:50 +0300 (EEST) Received: from [10.2.1.87] (gateway.cybervisiontech.com.ua [88.81.251.18]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by falcon.cybervisiontech.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1A81243D4DE; Thu, 27 Sep 2007 18:37:50 +0300 (EEST) Message-ID: <46FBCE7D.8060409@icyb.net.ua> Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2007 18:38:37 +0300 From: Andriy Gapon User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (X11/20070803) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Subject: usb rndis X-BeenThere: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Mobile computing with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2007 15:56:07 -0000 What is status of support of USB devices that talk (MS) RNDIS ? Are there any news or clever hacks ? Essentially I am trying to connect to internet my FreeBSD computer using GPRS via Asus P535 device that runs WM5 (AKU 3). I use "Internet Sharing" program on the device side. I tried using cdce but it doesn't attach to my device. I am open to any suggestions both on PC and device sides. Dump from udesc_dump follows. As I understand from http://www.usb.org/developers/defined_class class e0, subclass 1, protocol 3 seems to mean "Remote NDIS". There is a huge linux patch that seems to be designed to add or improve RNDIS support: http://riksun.riken.go.jp/pub/pub/Linux/kernel/people/gregkh/gregkh-2.6/gregkh-03-usb-2.6.20-rc1-git7.patch Standard Device Descriptor: bLength 18 bDescriptorType 01 bcdUSB 0200 bDeviceClass e0 bDeviceSubClass 01 bDeviceProtocol 03 bMaxPacketSize 16 idVendor 0b05 idProduct 424f bcdDevice 0000 iManufacturer 1 iProduct 2 iSerialNumber 3 bNumConfigurations 1 Configuration 0: Standard Configuration Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 02 wTotalLength 62 bNumInterface 2 bConfigurationValue 1 iConfiguration 0 bmAttributes 80 bMaxPower 250 (500 mA) Standard Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 04 bInterfaceNumber 0 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 1 bInterfaceClass e0 bInterfaceSubClass 01 bInterfaceProtocol 03 iInterface 0 Descriptor: bLength 5 bDescriptorType 24 bDescriptorSubtype 01 05 24 01 00 01 Descriptor: bLength 4 bDescriptorType 24 bDescriptorSubtype 02 04 24 02 00 Descriptor: bLength 5 bDescriptorType 24 bDescriptorSubtype 02 05 24 02 00 01 Standard Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 05 bEndpointAddress 81 (in) bmAttributes 03 (Interrupt) wMaxPacketSize 8 bInterval 1 Standard Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 04 bInterfaceNumber 1 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 2 bInterfaceClass 0a bInterfaceSubClass 00 bInterfaceProtocol 00 iInterface 0 Standard Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 05 bEndpointAddress 82 (in) bmAttributes 02 (Bulk) wMaxPacketSize 64 bInterval 0 Standard Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 05 bEndpointAddress 03 (out) bmAttributes 02 (Bulk) wMaxPacketSize 64 bInterval 0 Codes Representing Languages by the Device: bLength 4 bDescriptorType 03 wLANGID[0] 0409 String (index 1): ASUS String (index 2): ASUS Windows Mobile Device String (index 3): f553b4ec-0dee-9dcc-7a63-40a7b4d674b9 -- Andriy Gapon From owner-freebsd-mobile@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Sep 28 20:17:15 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7817216A420 for ; Fri, 28 Sep 2007 20:17:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ceco108@gimail.af.mil) Received: from athena.hrdnet.com (athena.hrdnet.com [208.194.177.119]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 33CAA13C459 for ; Fri, 28 Sep 2007 20:17:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ceco108@gimail.af.mil) Received: from gimail.af.mil (unverified [208.194.177.29]) by athena.hrdnet.com (Vircom SMTPRS 4.4.571.23) with ESMTP id ; Fri, 28 Sep 2007 15:56:11 -0400 X-Modus-BlackList: 208.194.177.29=OK;ceco108@gimail.af.mil=OK X-Modus-Trusted: 208.194.177.29=YES X-Modus-Audit: FALSE;0;0;0 Message-ID: <0d6ce77db73d45bbbc83291b49df3ae4.ceco108@gimail.af.mil> X-EM-APIVersion: 2, 0, 2, 6 X-Priority: 3 (Normal) From: "ceco108@gimail.af.mil" To: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org, cwe-lug@lists.firepipe.net Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2007 15:51:55 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Cc: Subject: IBM TP R40 Intel 2100 X-BeenThere: freebsd-mobile@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Mobile computing with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2007 20:17:15 -0000 Hello all, I have FreeBSD 6.2 on a TP R40 with the Intel 2100 802.11b wireless minicard. I am using the ipw driver with firmware. I can bring the ipw0 up with "ifconfig ipw0 up", "ifcontrol ipw0 list scan", and "ipwcontrol -i ipw0 - f /boot/firmware/ipw-1.fw". I am not quite sure how to connect to an Open AP at the library. I would like to know how to configure one of the following: 1. Configure the Function Key (FK)to turn on and off the wireless radio. 2. Find an easier way to bring up the interface, associate to an AP, and pull a DHCP IP address. 3. How to configure the firewall for added protection. 4. Is there a package or port that I can install that will automate the process. Thanks, Cecil
