You need to build everything from ports on alpha, since there aren't any binary packages -- though it might be nice if someone would build them for 6.3, as a last hurrah for FreeBSD/alpha. You also will need to fix up xorg-server to remove the "doesn't build on alpha" line in the Makefile, and then make it link against libio in the appropriate place. Once you've done that, it should work fine, and is just a matter of waiting a long time for everything to finish building. -Nathan From owner-freebsd-alpha@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 11 14:41:18 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: alpha@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4A30A106566B for ; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 14:41:18 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=YTyzA7=U4=alasir.com=walter@yourhostingaccount.com) Received: from mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com (mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com [65.254.253.61]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1400F8FC2B for ; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 14:41:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=YTyzA7=U4=alasir.com=walter@yourhostingaccount.com) Received: from mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.15.3] helo=mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com) by mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com with esmtp (Exim) id 1JkJy3-0003Zg-Dp for alpha@freebsd.org; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 10:11:03 -0400 Received: from impout03.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.55.3] helo=impout03.yourhostingaccount.com) by mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com with esmtp (Exim) id 1JkJy3-0001Qn-6Y for alpha@freebsd.org; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 10:11:03 -0400 Received: from webmail16.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.16.16]) by impout03.yourhostingaccount.com with NO UCE id CEB21Z00A0Lncky0000000; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 10:11:02 -0400 X-EN-OrigOutIP: 10.1.16.16 X-EN-IMPSID: CEB21Z00A0Lncky0000000 Received: from [91.124.51.188] by webmail16.yourhostingaccount.com via HTTP; Fri, 11 Apr 2008 10:11:02 -0400 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" MIME-Version: 1.0 From: Paul V. In order to update, you need to loca= te the SROM chip first, pull it up and use a ROM programming device. However, if a particular processor runs well if single installed, SROM corruption isn't t= he case probably.
